My commanding officer has asked me to write (in English of course) a condolence letter to a unit were are twinned with.
This unit has recently lost a member and my CO wants to express his unit's condolence.
I don't know how to write such a letter.
Could anybody help or point to a site which would show some good examples ?
Thank you very much.
PS: I need that ASAP of course....

Sorry to hear that man.
Stick to the facts and write from the heart.

Iīm agreed. Write the first coming to your mind, itīll come straight from your heart. Be honest. Your a soldier not a writer.

Look for "condelence letter sample" on google. Once you look at a few and see how they are structured, you will be able to put your expressions down easier.

From Google search 'remembrance' and 'solace' ;
From the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying
May I be a protector to those without protection
A leader for those who journey
And a boat, a bridge, a passage
For those desiring the further shore.
May the pain of every living creature
Be completely cleared away
May I be the doctor, the medicine
And may I be the nurse
For all the sick beings in the world
Until everyone is healed.
Just like space
And the great elements such as earth,
May I always support the life
Of all boundless creatures.
And until they pass away from pain
May I also be a source of life
For all the realms of varied beings
That reach unto the ends of space.
