We don't know why the boots on the ground bagged him. Could've been innocent. Could've been a potential suicide bomber.

hmmmmm... there is nothing artistic about the photo. there is nothing dramatic about the photo. the photo is of a detained POW. the photographer is a frenchman. it won the photo of the year for THAT.

i also nominate Yasser Arafat as nobel peace prize winner. i also nominate jimmy carter for the peace prize the same year that we are going to war in iraq. let's see...

you're so f*^%# senseless. Its a firggin child in a POW camp. Would you want a US kid to be in a POW camp, sitting on sand and sarrounded by barbed wire?

hmmmmm... there is nothing artistic about the photo.

When was a news photo supposed to be artistic?

there is nothing dramatic about the photo.

Obviously you don't have kids on your own.
That picture is very dramatic indeed. You see a little boy scared ****less because he is in a situation that he caqn't understand.
All he knows is that something is wrong, and that scares him.

the photo is of a detained POW.

It is also a photo of a caring father.

That is why this photo is both dramatic and heart warming in the same time.
I see the photo as almost surreal. In the mids of his most dramatic hour of life, the father take his time to comfort the little boy.

As I've learned, your in the progress of being a doctor.
the Law of Hipocrates, (sp?) do it have any meaning to you at all??

Or are you just going to educate yourself to be a doctor for the rich people?

Fargin

A father who's trying to protect and clam his son, hooded and behind barb-wire. Pretty strong statement about casualties of war.

Seoulstriker, you doctors could use some basic empathy classes.

The kid isn't a POW you fools, he's merely with his father because - well, he's his father. I'd rather the little boy be with his father in there than barred from him elswhere.

In a situation like this, he was abviously detained for a reason. And having a kid with him, doesn't necessarily mean innocent. Keeping the child with him is less traumatizing than seperating them. We don't know the whole story, and a picture is worth a thousand words. Like Fargin said "It shows the casualties of war."...Children (w/exceptions)

you guys don't think it's a political statement by a group of photogs that Bush is a baby-killer/injurer?

hey a******es, how about i nominate the following photo for 'photo of the year'?

http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/pzavisla/hostedmilitaryimages/iraqi%20prisoners.jpg
OMG OMG OMG!!! they have concentration camps in iraq now! the americans are mass-killing iraqis in gas chambers!!! OMG OMG OMG!

Oh, WOW!!! that photo being nominated as photo of the year is NOT a political statement against the bush administration!

i guess it takes the caption for you guys to understand...

Upfrontreporting

As some of the other posters on this thread, I'm also offended by the dumb-ass remarks concerning the small child behind barbed wire with his father. This is in fact a very moving and strong pic and is clearly showing the cost of conflict.
Clearly the comments must be comming from dumb-ass kids who lack a broadsided view of the world, and life in general.

Well you got a few tyrants being captured/killed. A hundred years from now when we are all dead and rotting...people will remember only of a small, short conflict and the capture/killing of these pieces of horse manure. These photos will be in our grandchildren's history books.

The third photo is just your group of blue-collared guys from 5th SFG out there kicking ass and preserving freedom.

I do like the 2nd and 3rd pics from Striker.
