I'm pretty sure that kicking in the door like that is not the smartest way to do it. Kicking it with your back to it is better. I talked to some firefighters from my city and they said you don't want your momentum going into the room just yet. Did some looking around about it, and even some British SAS sites said the same thing.

Any one else think so?

Id rather be fronting a possible threat, than have a cap busted in my occipital lobe. Or just as important, have the ability to see whats behind the door. Firefighting has nothing to do with CQC.

i've kicked in a door or two in my time when i couldn't find my keys and it's not like you fall into the room when you kick in the door, that is unless you want to. of course i wasn't carrying all that gear so it might be different, but it looks like he's leaning back so i think he'll be alright, not like he's doing a running flying ninja kick.

I'm just amazed at the lack of good locks in Iraq. I've seen so much video of doors getting kicked in where they fly off the hinges and fly open with hardly any force.

Next up on 60 minutes: The government contract that secretly went to Schlage Lock company in 1990.

Kicking in a door with your back to it (or donkey kick) is usually used if your going to chuck something in before you enter the room (flashbang, whatever.)Cant go chucking grenedes into every house you want to enter in Iraq.

I was wondering if anyone got hi-res or clear pics of the 101st in sticks before a jump where they got all their gear on (large rucks between their legs and all)...

Would really, really appreciate it. Thanks...

PS: I did a search and most of the pics from threads are gone! :(

You mean like pre-1974? Very little of the 101 jumps anymore. Pathfinders and I think they still have LRS or something.

Oh OK. Weren't these the folks who "drew a line in the sand" during Desert Shield?

Actually, I saw pics of them in a Time Life book owned by a friend a few years back. She couldn't find the book anymore. I wanted to scan the pics.
