Norwegian troops escape suicide bomb
Two Norwegian military vehicles barely escaped when a suicide bomber detonated his bomb between the two cars in downtown Kabul on Friday.
According to a police officer on the scene, the suicide bomber was killed and two passers by injured. None of the ISAF troops were injured.
The attack took place between the zoo and the former royal palace, right next to the building where the new National Assembly is to meet on Monday. The bomb was detnated between the two Norwegian vehicles.
Press officer Thom Knustad at the joint operational HQ in Stavanger says to NTB that it appears to be an attack directed at the ISAF forces in Afghanistan.
-An improvised explosive device was used, a charge placed at the scene and that also could have been remotely controlled, says Knutstad.
The burnt out wreckage of the suicide bomber's Toyota could be seen approximately 500 meters from the parliament building, but the ISAF cars only received minor damage, according to major Andy Elmes of ISAF.
