I decided I would go out this beautiful morning and take some pictures. Some nice scenery/nature pics and they give an idea of how it looks like when it's winter in Sweden. When I will visit Sweden (don't ask, I mean generally)

1) It will be winter
2) For sure I'm going to take my swimming suit and have a Nordic winter swimming experience. (A Greek doing winter swimming?? Yes, that is correct! And is better than the summer ones!)

Yup, it's almost becoming kind of a tradition. There have been a few times though that it's been left alone.

1966 börjar Gävlebockens historia. Stig Gavlén kom på idén om en enorm halmbock som skulle sättas på Slottstorget i Gävle. Den 1 december kom den 13 meter höga, 7 meter långa och 3 ton tunga bocken på plats. På nyårsnatten klockan 0.00 gick bocken upp i rök. Gärningsmannen hittades och åtalades för grov skadegörelse.

1967 fick bocken stå kvar orörd.

1968 fick bocken också stå kvar orörd.

1969 brändes bocken på nyårsafton.

1970 blev första bocken bränd *** timmar efter uppsättandet. Två kraftigt berusade ynglingar bands vid dådet. Med hjälp av olika bidragsgivare sattes bocken dock upp igen, den här gången gjord av vass.

1971 Köpmännen tröttnade på brända bockar och lade av med bockverksamheten. Naturvetenskapliga föreningen från Vasaskolan tog över istället. Deras lilla bock slogs sönder.

1972 sjönk bocken ihop på grund av sabotage.

1973 gick bocken ett oklart öde till mötes.

1974 brändes bocken ned.

1975 ännu ett oklart öde.

1976 körde en raggarbil sönder bocken

1977 oklart öde igen

1978 slogs bocken sönder igen

1979 brändes bocken innan den ens var uppsatt. Ny byggs och impregneras, också den saboterad och sönderbruten.

1980 bränns ner på julafton

1981 skonad

1982 nedbränd på Lucia

1983 sönderslagna ben

1984 nedbränd natten till Lucia

1985 12.5 meter hög hamnar bocken i Guiness rekordbok för första gången. Nedbränd i januari.

1986 Köpmännen tar upp bockbyggandet igen. Från och med nu är det alltid två bockar, Köpmännens och Vasaskolans. Den stora bocken blev dock nedbränd natten till julafton.

1987 väl impregnerad bock. Brändes dock ned veckan före jul.

1988 klarade sig bocken. Blir spelobjekt på engelska oddslistor.

1989 brann bocken innan den ens var uppbyggd. Det samlades ihop pengar från allmänheten till ny bock som brändes ned i januari. I mars 1990 byggdes ännu en ny bock upp, då till filmen ”Black Jack”.

1990 skonades bocken. Det här året satt många som frivillig vakt.

1991 fick bocken sällskap av en reklamsläde som dock visade sig vara ett svartbygge. Brann på julaftons morgon. Byggdes upp igen för att följa med till Stockholm på kampanj mot regementets (I 14) nedläggning.

1992 brann efter åtta dagar, även Vasaskolans bock brändes samma natt. Byggdes upp igen, men brann 20 december. Bockbrännaren till samtliga tre bockar greps.

1993 skulle bocken komma med ännu en gång i Guiness rekordbok. Denna plats fick Vasaskolans bock med 16 meter. Skonades

1994 skonad

1995 brann ner på juldagsmorgonen. Byggdes upp igen för att stå när 550-årsjubiléet började.

1996 klarade sig. Vaktades av första gången av webbkamera.

1997 klarade sig bocken med begränsande skador av raketer.

1998 brann 11 december, trots snöoväder. Byggdes upp igen

1999 brann några timmar efter bockens uppsättande. Uppe till Lucia igen.

2000 brann den ett par dagar innan nyår.

2001 dagen före julafton var det en 51-årig amerikan på besök i Sverige som tuttade eld på stans stolthet.

2002 skonad
2003 brann bocken två nätter före lucia. En ny bock var på plats någon vecka senare och den klarade sig helskinnad.
2004 brann bocken den 21 december, bara tre dagar innan jul. Ingen ny bock byggdes upp.
2005 brann bocken den 3 december 21.08. Byggdes upp igen den 8 december.
