there's an article similar to this subject in this month's 'national geographic'. seems the kurds aren't putting a whole lot of stock in the new iraqi gov't being able to keep control of iraq. the kurds are getting ready to go their separate way. the biggest problem is that they need control of kirkuk with its huge, half-a-trillion dollar oilfield.

Kurdistan will be a reality if Iraq enters a civil war (actually there is civil war but neither official nor extended)
