Just curious...How is he wearing a 10th Mountain patch on his right shoulder, saying hes been deployed with them, and in the Air Force? Is he a combat controller, thus the Air Force allows you to wear the patch of the unit you supported? Or does the Air Force allow your Army patches, ribbons, etc to transfer over? I know the Army doesn't. Can someone please explain? Thanks in advance...

The USAF doesn't have combat patch's. (Just those funny looking BDU pocket patches!)
Airmen alinged with Army units can wear (optional) the Division/Brigade SSI of the unit their supporting. *In this case, (right shoulder SSI combat patch, denotes, he was once assigned to the 20th ASOS, which supports the 10th Mtn Div (L)
The photo heading says, he is assigned to the 18th Weather Squadron. So his left shoulder patch would be the 18th Abn Corp.

Side note, the AF instruction (regulations) states, that the US Army SSI is only worn, when the airmen is assigned to the USAF unit, supporting the US Army unit. Which means if he is assigned to another USAF unit at a AFB, he is suppose to remove all SSI. (most keep their combat patch)

Combat Controllers are in assigned to Special Tactics Squadron and do not directly support the US Marines or US Army.
