Nice pics.

BUt why does France even spend the money on such advanced equipment? They will never use it anyway...

Since 1969 and probably forgetting a few (not in chronological order):

Chad*
Lybia*
Mauritania*
Lebanon*
Zaire*
Central African Republic*
Ivory Coast*
Benin*
Comoroes
Congo*
Kosovo*
Bosnia* (UNPROFOR, IFOR, SFOR)
Macedonia
Gulf War 1*
Cambodia
Somalia*
Rwanda*
Liberia
Erytrea
Afghanistan*
East Timor*

* means involvement of combat air power

Yes, France never goes to any war...

Why does the USA spend money on nuclear weapons? They've only used them twice.

Yep, it's a "VAB reco NBC", not seen very often and in service with the GDNBC or Groupe de défense NBC based in Draguignan, South of France.

They also use VLRA 6X6 trucks with special NBC equipments.

maybe if their lucky, the French can use their NBC troops in their own homeland someday for a real emergency

With allies wishing you to suffer an NBC attack, who needs enemies ?

Is it what you are actually suggesting ?

Yes, these guys were used to do the recce of the lead battery factory in Mitrovica, Kosovo, when NATO entered the town and latter too; it was a real witche's kitchen, full of all sorts of chemicals.

Fantassin I take it they work with the UK JNBCR.

The NBC recce units are excellent from an enviromentl health point of view as they have kit and expertese that can quickly give answers to questions on industrial sites that could be hazardous to troops on any sort of deployment. from Exercise to Full warfighting. They are invaluable to enviromantal health officers in stopping squaddies being contaminated by various nasty industrial chemicals as well as NBC agents.

I suppose so but I can't say yes at 100%.

In France, they belong to the Artillery branch.
