That's an easy one. She is in the Air Force therefore there are no rules. :)

Damn it! It's the ChAir Force. Hands down though out of all the US Armed Forces the Air Force has the hottest chics, it's my vice, and has gotten me into trouble more then once HAHAHA.

Wing Wipers, Window Wahers, Wing Nuts, Chair Force, Bird Poop Scrapers... There are others but most of the ones I realy remember were job specific. Mostly what I was called for being a crew chief.
The uniform regs were something that always bothered me while I was in. I remember seeing a guy over in Reinmein that was wearing one of those mock turtle necks and had his sleeves rooled up. And you can generaly say nothing about it or you get accused of being too hard on the guys and gals. And don't call them girls either, I found out the hard way that " There are no girls in the United States Air Force airmen, only women is that clear?"
Enough of the bad memories. Back to the picture. At least as an SP, oh wait, they are SF now. They are not wearing that God awful ascott with the huge patch on it.

Um, the Army wears a turtleneck as well. It's brown to match their undershirt. As far as I know, this was only in the bdu, I don't think the ACU has an option like that. The AF is allowed to wear black undershirts, hence a black turtleneck. The turtlenecks are only popular with the females, although some metro guys have been known to wear one. And yes, I also saw a guy wearing a turtleneck with his bdu sleeves rolled up. Since I outranked him I walked over and discreetly said something like "you look like a fag with that on." Maybe I was too harsh, but it was true. And about enforcing regs...usually if someone is doing something questionable, they get called out on it right away, there is no "let's not hurt their feelings" crap. This usually goes for E6 and below, above that people just go "um, I don't wanna tell him, you go tell him..."

So people are allowed to wear whatever they want in the airforce?
What about jewellery, other accessories or maybe even not wearing their uniform?

It's not a turtle neck, it's the top to the Polypro long underwear.

A good NCO (SGT, Chief, LPO) reguardless of the rank of the individual involved, would correct the mistake, and insure that the Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine was up to standard. I've told an 0-6 that his beret was jacked up (with a little more tact of course), and helped them adjust it properly. There's no need to degrade the troop, tell them what's wrong, tell them how to correct it, and make sure they do. Now if they start flapping their gums, and disrespecting you, that's a different story.

At the time of the incident I was an E3 and the other guy was an E2, brand new from basic. Once you get out of basic the regs allow you to customize your appearance a little, this guy went too far. And yes, a good NCO should step up and correct anyone, regardless of rank. On more than one occasion I've seen an NCO "politely" correcting a lieutenant who is out of regs. Also, that polypro thing is what I was referring to.

Not sure if this is still in effect but on Training command bases while I was in ear rings and male gender were not allowed. The cops had the right to refuse you entrance to the base if were a dude with an ear ring in.
The time I had seen the guy with a ****ie and sleeves rolled up we were off base, I was in civies and I was not sure if there even was a reg covering the sleeve's down when you have a ****ie around your neck. The only turtle neckish thing I have ever worn was the nomex top that had a half hight one.
The only uniform infractions I would be an ass about were safety related. Prior to any refueling I supervised I would have all gortex removed and do a boot inspection. Had a POL driver show up once with a brand new pair of Cocran jump boots on. There are two things wrong with those, no steel toe and they have nails exposed on the sole. His boss was more mad at me than his driver when I had told him I wanted the guy gone. The only time I had to call for someone with more rank to get my way. Got an E9 out there though to back me up on it.

While I was stationed at Osan AB (Korea), pretty much everyone wore baseball caps. Seriously. The 51st Fighter Wing had camouflage baseball caps with "51st FW" in white on the front. Combine that with females with unkempt hair hanging past their collar and carrying purses, and you quickly lose whatever shred of respect you had for the Air Force.

The way I heard it was that the uniform board (officers) didn't like the idea of polypro, that's why you see the turtlenecks and "norwegian" sleep shirts (da green ones). It supposedly looks more professional.
Airmen don't make the rules, they just got to follow them. It gets confusing when each base commander can make changes/allowed items the exist for his base only.

I've never seen 'wing' caps before. I know that a lot of Squadrons, be it LRS, AMXS, MXS, CES, etc have their own hat, but not a Wing. Our squadron hat is cammo-ed with black letters.
It is sad to see some dirtbags out of regs. We don't get much respect as it is, they just don't help at all.

Our units wore baseball caps. Mine was blue with gold letters. Though we were not allowed to wear them while TDY. Not sure why, we had to switch back to regular BDU patrol caps. While I was flying I still wore mine around in flight suit while working on the flightline. That darned c**t cap didn't do anything to keep the rain or sun out of your eyes while doing your job.

Hmm well from my experience in the military, the AF and what I've seen. I believe the AF is more into quality and looks rather than quantity and a dress standard...though I don't think many are complaining after what I've seen abroad and the pics people post on this site, rofl

jesus, really, even if it doesnt follow regs, if it doesnt look retarded and it doesnt interfere with work or safety...who the hell cares...
Reminds me of the whole arguments between the Federal Air Marshalls and the TSA about their uniforms...their regs said to wear slacks and a dress shirt and shoes and ****, and it made em stand out like a sober irishmen, so they bitched until they were allowed to wear hawaiian shirts and blue jeans.
I think functionality should always come first in uniform regs.
At my work the standard uniform is company issued polo shirt, a while T-shirt underneath and khaki dress pants like dockers.... however, ive been asked by several people to allow khaki cargo pants instead, and, ive considered the convinience of having cargo pants, and ive now decided to let some people wear them, namely maintence people, security and lot attendants, because having the extra pockets ALLOWS THEM TO DO THEIR JOB BETTER even if it isnt company policy.
Same here, if a turtleneck keeps her warm and lets her do her job better, even though it isnt uniform, what difference does it make.

I guess that's how the AF wears it's beret. Marine women the best? I've seen very few, best I've seen was Catherine Bell, rofl ...some just get too macho...don't get me wrong there are exceptions ...but the most I've seen consistantly has been through the AF.
