Has anyone done a serious investigation into the Clinton administration's overt support of individual US companies trying to tie-up oil deals with a number of Central Asian countries, in the immediate years after the breakup of the Soviet Union?

I've heard it said that the Clinton administration actually went out of it's way to help certain US oil companies, at the expense of others, complete big-money deals in places like Uzbekistan and Kazikhstan...and that (and this is the kicker), some of the administration officials involved in the deals (senior ones) had shares in the oil companies they were acting on behalf of.

Both the Democrats and Republicans were all for what the Clinton administration did. So both sides of the House had, and have, reason to see that such an investigation wasn't done into the Clinton administration's shinanigans in Central Asia in the 90's.
