Eight people have been arrested in the Montreal area following the Boxing Day robbery of an electronics store by thieves posing as security guards.
The robbers, dressed in the uniforms of a well-known security company, presented fake paperwork at a downtown Future Shop on Monday, police said.
They proceeded to leave with an unspecified amount of cash, but store employees weren't aware they had been robbed until well after the thieves left.
Police tracked down the suspects at a house in Cartierville, north of Montreal, on Tuesday night after receiving a tip about a man seen driving in the area with a gun.
A SWAT team went to the house in search of the man, resulting in a standoff that lasted several hours, said police spokesperson Raphael Bergeron.
When the officers entered the house, they found several people as well as security guard uniforms, a fake gun, ammunition and large sums of money, Bergeron said.
Police said they found about $35,000 likely linked to the Future Shop. The uniforms might have been used during the robbery, they added.
The suspects – six men and two women between the ages of 25 and 60 – are in custody and being questioned by police.

This is the most recent of a series of heists in Montreal. I guess the criminal mindset out there is a little more cultured than over this way.
