If your from Canada then I know you'll be familiar with this phrase. Perhaps other nations have this saying too, but, if you are unfamiliar with it then I'll explain. Around Rememberance Day it is said on broadcasts and in speeches. It is even part of some songs quiors sing at this time. It means to most people who say it nowadays that "Never Again" will we have war.

It's a nice thought I'll admit, but ultimately people know it is just a wish.

However, what I was told by my grandparents was that the saying "Never Again" meant that we would never again appease a dictator. Like was done before the second world war.

So what do you all think, which meaning makes more sense? And what makes more sense, avoiding conflict with dictatorships, or not appeasing them even if that means going to war.

I think it's used a phrase that the world will never again allow something like the Holocaust to happen. Of course, that's just wishful thinking.

I'd think from the Canadian perspective it would mean we won't be bled dry by poor onduct of the war.

From the Jewish and Israeli perspective it's a defining comment. No going quietly or passively, or even seemingly being set up to do so.
