View Full Version : What bin Laden wanted...

So with orders to remove all of our American military presence from the Islamic Holy Land, I'm curious if this will change Al Qaeda's attitude. Their primary cause was to get Infidels out of Saudi Arabia. They hated that the Saudis used the coalition to fight off Iraq in the first Gulf War. He wanted his Muhajadeen along with Arabs from many middle eastern countries to do the job instead. Now that one of his primary demands has been met, it'll be interesting to see what the next audio tape to al Jazeera brings forth.
Although hoping and praying for the best, I wouldnt be suprised if they just found something else to hate us for.
I know Al Qaeda wants all lands formerly under Islamic rule returned, all islamic countries under one Uma, and all infidels out of Islamic countries. Sooo, I guess they'll wage jihad forever
Im ignorant, so naturally I do not understand what makes arabs so differant than others in that they use terrorist tactics as their primary means of fighting.

Cause they don't have any B-2s... I'm sure they'd prefer to do it from 30,000ft.

The use of terrorism is not limited to the Muslims--after all, there's also the IRA, even though neogiations appear to be underway once again. We can also recall other examples--violent acts committed by members of Communist or the anarchist groups in the early 20th and late 19th ce.

dont forget about the colobiam terrorists, groups like FARC, or the ELN, there's that crazy group in Japan (forgetting the name) who used nerve gas in the subway (they are into the world domination scene) Basque terrorists in Spain.. thats a big reason why they have been helping us... there are bombings almost weekly in Spain. Chechnya, Jamu-Kashmiri freedom fighters, and the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka... Abu Nidal in the Phillipines, its goes on and on.,... these groups are all active might i add.

For the time being at least the Tamil Tigers are back on cease fire - things are shaky, but the Japanese and Norwegian mediators are hopefull.
the Tamil tigers were responsinble for a third of all terrorist attacks in the world a couple of years ago all on a tiny island like Sri Lanka. When I went there last year it was still considered crazy to go to the north of the island despite the ceasefire. In the center of Colombo you have sandbags and machine gun turrets in the centre and whole streets are cut off to the public.
I got searched twice before flying into the country, despite being a foreigner (although I was coming from tamil nadu in india).

Just picked up that despite the pullout a US Defence worker has been shot dead in Saudi - Channel 4 News report. The BBC website has it, but is stating injured (I hope they are right)

They probably figured that they should get shots in while the Americans were still easily reachable.

Hezbollah was founded to push Israel out of Lebanon. Israel is no longer in Lebanon. Has Hezbollah stopped terror attacks? Nope. Likewise, Osama Bin Laden will find a new reason to advocate terror attacks against the USA.
However, this isn't just us giving in to terrorist demands. Qatar makes a lot more sense from our perspective. The government of Qatar let us use their territory in the recently-concluded Iraq war; Saudi Arabia didn't. We don't want our bases in a country that won't let us use them in wartime.
Also, my understanding is that the Qatari people are less hostile to the USA than the Saudi people are, so this should mean that our troops will be safer from terrorist attack while stationed there.
