Actually the China's 5.8mm Type 95 rifle is quite different from AUG and was developped by China itself. You can see the difference:

Actually, I'm not talking about the Type 95 here.
Once, someone posted a picture and was predominantly angry about the Chinese making a copy of the Steyr, for whatever purposes.
I wish I could locate that thread but in the absence of it, I'm sure you can dig up some info on weapons that have been manufactured in China under someone else's blueprints...
What comes to the Humvee, that model is not the one in question either.
Dig up a thread called "how can they get away with this?" or something...

(Orginally..)Yes, it is a copy of AT-3. But much ealier than 1979. It was begun to copy in 1973 and formally equiped PLA since 1978.
PLA's latest anti-armor missile is HJ-9:

Nice photos Yaumanto and Xingbate!
Dalleer: The first Chinese assault rifles were copies of Russian weapons (i.e. AK, AKM, SKS), but they very fast produced their own modifications and then their own interesting ammunition (5,8mm x 42) and the whole rifle family around this cartridge.

from left (lower row): QBZ-95B short barrel assault rifle, QBZ-95 standard assault rifle, KBU-88 sniper rifle (without scope), (upper row) QJY-88 light machinegun, QBB-95 automatic rifle (SAW)
The last one (QBB-95) is interesting, because of asymetrical magazine (better shown on lower picture).

Yes, but where is this Chinese Steyr-looking rifle?
I very clearly remember someone posting a picture about it, and then the crowds gathered to wonder at it...
Come to think of it, maybe this KBU-88 sniper rifle might be the one I'm trying to search here, but somehow the rifle in the picture looked alot more "Steyer'ish"
The last one (QBB-95) is interesting, because of asymetrical magazine (better shown on lower picture).
Undoubtedly a very interesting concept, but what I am looking for here is the picture and information concerning this Steyr-looking rifle.
And as someone once said, the Chinese are known to produce all sorts of (sometimes cheap) copies of other products, to just name one would be weapons.

Yes, but where is this Chinese Steyr-looking rifle?I really don't understand your point. For the layman every bullpup design rifle looks like Steyr. In fact Steyr AUG was one on the first 5,56mm bullpups in service (ca. 1977) but this doesn't mean that every bullpup rifle is dedscendant of the Steyr.
I very clearly remember someone posting a picture about it, and then the crowds gathered to wonder at it... Boy, I send a pictures of the Republic of China (=ROC i.e. Taiwan not PRC i.e. People's Republic of China!) T68 rifle. And yes this weapon looks a little bit like Steyr but it isn't Chinese (well, People's Chinese)!

And as someone once said, the Chinese are known to produce all sorts of (sometimes cheap) copies of other products, to just name one would be weapons.Yes it is true, but in this case (i.e. QBZ-95 family) it is false.

Looks like it, yeah.
Yes it is true, but in this case (i.e. QBZ-95 family) it is false.
It's good that you dare to agree with me on this matter at least, but who talked anything about the QBZ-95 family?
It was just a general observation, not Specifically aimed towards the QBZ-95 line of weapons.
I really don't understand your point. For the layman every bullpup design rifle looks like Steyr. In fact Steyr AUG was one on the first 5,56mm bullpups in service (ca. 1977) but this doesn't mean that every bullpup rifle is dedscendant of the Steyr.
Obviously, the FAMAS for an example does not look like the Steyer despite the fact that they are both bullpup designs, so what makes you think that this particular "Layman" (me) assumes so?
This Taiwanese rifle does look like a Steyr, but that does not mean that I automatically refer to every bullpup design as a "Steyr-like" weapon.
Or perhaps you are "just sayin' " ?

Yeah. Xingbake. Hm, do you have any experience, or know people that do,
that have handled the Norinco rifles and have a opinion about them? Type 56-2
were bought by Finland (about 100.000) to be stored for the worst equipped
troops in case of war. It´s generally considered (by the finns) to be real piece
of ****.
http://shiekkal.letku.net/asekisa2/kuva3.jpg
Norinco 56S is a quite popular rifle among civilians in Finland, (semi-automatic)
only. In civilian hands the mechanism is often changed to a higher quality
finnish one. And actually, then it´s reported to be fairly accurate. However
the quality is very inferior to the east german Kalashnikovs (also stored
in Finland for reserve use).
http://www.compart.fi/jury/images/sb9404_pakiv22.jpg
One of the better features on the Norinco
http://www.urova.fi/home/loru/iso_tjk.jpg
Finnish civilian with Norinco 56S, a quite large number came
to the finnish civilian market at the same time when the FDF
bought 100.000 Type 56-2 for reserve use. They were cheap
as hell and Finland has quite liberal weapon laws luckily.

Yeah. But to be able to have full auto you will probably have to have "good
connections", as well as be a arms dealer or something like that. But it´s not
as impossible as in most other countries. Finland has a "reservist culture",
as well as of course a hunting culture, so weapons are quite usual.

Oh man don't even bring up that bull**** about Taiwan. You Chinese know NOTHING. Yes I am Taiwanese, and let me just say, the whole "Taiwan problem" has nothing to do with Taiwan, it's China that's the problem. Chinese are so brainwashed all they can say is " Taiwan is a part of China, there is only one China, bla bla bla." You completely ignore the real issues.
Taiwan is an independent, free market democracy, we are just waiting for China to catch up. But You treat Taiwanese with absolutely NO respect at all, you guys are so out of touch with the Taiwanese people.
We are the first to open up the Chinese market, setting up business there, starting the cash flowing. And what do you do with the money? You build missiles to point back at us. How do you expect us to willingly reunite with you when you are constaintly threatening to attack us? To us (and most of the world) China is a big bully. Its like telling your girlfriend to marry you or you'll stab her with your knife. Do you think she'll smile and embrace you? Hell no she'll step farther away from you. The more you threaten us the farther away we'll move from you. Think about it!

QJY-88 Any info on this one? A Google showed up a lot of chinese sites, and I´m not that good at chinese I´m afraid. Calibre 5.8 and all.
Source: http://www.sinodefence.com/army/crewserved/mg_58.asp
The 5.8 mm QJY-88 is PLA's next generation heavy machine gun to replace the 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm heavy machine guns currently in service. The QJY-88 uses the same calibre as the PLA's new generation standard assult rifle family, and can fire both 5.8 mm machine gun rounds and standard 5.8 mm rifle rounds.
The QJY-88 is an automatic, recoil operated, belt-fed, crew served machine gun to be used in the infantry battalion and company as a main suppressing weapon. The machine gun can effectively suppress infantries and light vehicles within 1,000 m distance. The machine gun is fitted with optical sight with night vision input.
The smaller calibre of the QJY-88 means that the soldiers can carry more ammunitions with the machine gun. The cartridge case can be attached to the machine gun to allow firing when the gunner is moving.

It is part of China. Both the PRC and RCO belongs to one China. You know, Taiwan probably will be in the future - politically - a part of one China but now - besides of international recognition - ROC act as independent state, so...
The United Nation doesn't accept Taiwan as an independent country, so does US, Russia, France, UK..... and Poland as well. You're right - only 28 countries recognized Taiwan as independent state. But despite this fact ROC act as it be such country with self-determination in practice, no doubt, right?

As they say, a picture says more than 1000 words, what a chinese takes
with him on a physically exhausting patrol (if he may choose himself):

hehe, the Chinese QBZ really is a nice looking weapon and too all you people who say its a knock off of FAMAS, AUG, etc..because it look similarÑ ALL BULLPUPS, well most, look similar you idiots. For ounce China has done something somewhat original, even developing a new calibre based on an American. study way back in the day. At least the Chinese looked at our own test results and drew the right answers instead of ignoring them like our stupid govnt did!!!
I say we applaud the Chinese originality. Who knows, maybe with enough pats on the back they might start making a pattern of it instead of stealing other peoples intellectual property all the time and reverse engineering it to a sub standard Chinese level!!!!
damn I got a comp virus. My keyboard is doing wierd things to what I type. Notice the strange accent over my n and also I cant make question marks or parenthesis or quotes and some of my keys are mixed. Damn you chinese hackers!!!. Wow I can still make an exclamation mark!!! At least you bastards didnt get that!!!!!!

I've got a series of questions, so please bear with me.
What is the role of Chinese Special Forces? Do they have specialized units for different roles like assasinations, landind strip capture, etc?
How do you get a 5.8x42mm bullet to go 1000 meters? New propellant?
Mustamo, what is the pistol that that soldier has in his gear (I can't paste the picture... sorry)

The fire selector is placed at the end of the butt stock, personally I do not like the design.

Strange design.
Isn't the fire selector in roughly the same place at the SA80?

So far I have only seen this photo with PLA dressing in desert camo, wondering whether they have already been issued to their troops.

Even their spec. op. team are equip. with lousy equipment, if you have chances to get a set of their uniform you will know that they are worse than any of the third world countries in quality.
The equipment mfc. are all stated owned and so they have no incentive at all to better their products, this can only be changed when it can switch to auction base tender.
Back ten years ago, the country couldn't even afford a pair of boots for each soldier under the tight budget, now it is a little better.
