Thank you for sharing. Those are absolutely beautiful pictures. I've never been to Spain, but it's my mother's favorite of all the countries she has visited. I will make it there one day. So many countries.... so little money. ;)

Those are stunning scoone. Beautiful. Thanks woot

Newport Beach is awesome too. I was there 2 years ago on the 4th of July. We took a harbor cruise to watch the fireworks. The houses and luxury yachts were amazing.

Is this a quiz? Spot the Delta/SWAT/whatever guys? I can't see them. Where are they hiding?

Seriously, lovely pictures, especially those beautiful autumn colors. Pretty far from my mental image of Spain (constantly drunk pinkish-colored brits and scandinavians, slobby german sunbathers with no sense of style, spanish latino-lover types also completly without style)

Hey, great pictures, that's the side of America that I don't Know, I've been once to NY but I don't like cities, I love an open range, lakes, rivers, green fields. I must visit this kind of places.

And by the way DeLux_247, yes that's Spain, but the northen part of The country isn't very well Known if compared with Andalucia, Balearic Isles or the Eastern Coast.
Here in the North it rains a lot, and cities aren't very big.

This is European Yew ( T.baccata ), T the tree is poisonous, valued for a variety of medicinal purposes, and symbolic of eternal life due to its evergreenness, exceptional longevity, and the wood's resistance to decay. The Celts used its wood for for votive and funerary artifacts, planted it in their holiest shrines (or perhaps chose its groves to site those shrines), and attributed to it a host of magical properties memorialized in their folklore. Following conversion of the Celts to Christianity, many of the Celtic shrines were appropriated as sites of churches and other Christian shrines, and ancient yews resident at these locations were preserved — perhaps to further legitimize the new religion. Whatever the reason, this cultural preservation of ancient yews accounts for the existence of the oldest and largest known individuals.

And some pictures I have taken from my hometown, all are quite new
so this is how it looks at the winter in southern Sweden, we are too
south to have snow and stuff most of the time. It´s not that beautiful
as the places others have posted, but what the hell, here I live:

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/P1100103.jpg
The island Ven visible, (where the famous astronomer Tycho Brahe
lived), and Denmark visible in the back

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/P1100106.jpg
Our castle from the 15th century. Has been used in several wars, been
sieged, has been used as a jail, a refugee camp etc, today it´s a museum

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/Gamla_vattentornet.jpg

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/Kommunarbetare_vid_stridsvagnshinder.jpg
Large parts of the beach at my town is as ugly as this place. Anti-tank
obstacles from world war 2. Sweden protected its neutrality, there are also
a lots of bunkers...

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v33/mustamato/Bunker_3_och_4.jpg
...such as these two. During the war there was also mines, trenches and all
other kinds of defensive installations along the beach. Note that the firing
ports are not aimed directly at the beach, the bunkers could "protect" each
other, that was the idea atleast. The defence line along the coast was
called "Per Albin Hansson-linjen", after our prime minister back then.
This particular bunker probably housed a MG and a anti-tank cannon.

*aussie accent* that's not a ... Castle

It´s simply called "Citadellet". Although I must say that I don´t know the
difference between a castle and a citadell. Maybe it´s because a castle
has one moat and a citadell has two? With this between the two moats:

Keep in mind, this is all within ONE province. All within a days drive or less. 90% of Canada is wilderness, and I LOVE it.

Just a little quiet place I like to go to be by myself. Me and about 100,000 other drunk rednecks on Saturday afternoons in the fall.
