Yeah, looking for something decent. I was thinking brugger & thomet but have little exp with them besides a rail for an fnc.

Will it accept MP5 RAS units, or is there a conflict in measurements?
Surefire makes an MP5 system:

I've got one of their RAS units, real good stuff. I'd just shoot them an email if I didn't know.
Other than that, Knights Armament makes some MP5-family RAS units.

Brugger et Thomet from Switzerland (http://www.brugger-thomet.ch) makes a tactical handguard with rails for the HK 33, i think it should fit the HK 53 alltough i'm not 100% sure.

From my knowledge yes they should work on a 53. I was looking at kac as well. Have a surefire on a colt and not to impressed its okay for the money and all but just to light for my taste.

Don't think it will stand up to the abuse?
I can't report alot yet, but I often times bury my shotgun in sand, shake it out, and shoot a hundred rounds out of it. The rails have endured alot of sand so far, no problems yet. I don't have any problems with it, minus the fact that they didn't send the fore-end tool with the kit. Found another use for my Strider knife that way.
