5.11 tactical pants/digidesert camo?

Hi, just bought a pair of 5.11 tactical pants (nylon/black). They feel great though I don´t really know about wear resistance etc.

I was wondering about their digidesert camo, they have some gear in that (pants, boots, a boonie etc.). Has anyone seen that particular camo in person? I have seen images of it but on display the colours vary a lot from image to image. For example, how does that camo compare with the desert camo that the US Marines use?

I use 5.11 pants since years for everything, shooting, working, etc. I still use a pair of pants bought 5 years ago and they still work fine, so the reliability is very good. Digi desert looks strange, but works fine. What a good thing is on the new pants, is that the small pouch is now on the left side, so you can use holsters on the right.

I'm left-handed, and everything on the 5.11 pants really would be perfect for me if they were reversed (small pocket, metal loop, strap above back pocket).

you're not alone :) and I agree with Beppo , I own several 5.11 and he's right about the pockets

I have seen the desert digital stuff up close and I really don't like it at all. Its a lot more vibrant then desert MARPAT is and just looks 'off' for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it but it doesn't fo it for me.

The quality though (like their normal 5.11's) is the top notch. I have had a few pair for a short while now and they are holding up just fine. Even when I took a serious spill while running all out and hitting the concrete I failed to seiously damage the pants. My knees on the ther hand were beaten all to rat sh!t.

@Mike: It's me, Patrick, bought 8 pants for the company and a lot of other stuff at your shop three weeks ago. It's expendable material because a lot of people use them a lot.

Work does fine. The WEF is coming in the next week, so a lot of interesting and intense work is waiting for me and the other guys.

I look forward to see your new stuff in the shop. Hopefully the STRIKE Commando Chest Rig will arive soon too, got a couple of pouches for it and no vest :) Can bind it on a belt or soemthing :)

Propper have come out with a new selection of Pants, that are a copy of the 5.11 pants. The quality in 5.11 has gone down since it was Royal Robbins. I have a few pairs of the RR pants, and they are still in great shape. The 5.11 ones have about half the life... I hope the Propper ones are better. I've been using Propper pants for years, and nothing beats them. Woolrich is also out with a line of tactical clothes... they are well made.

Yup, I've seen them... they really look nice, and the price isn't too expensive!
I've been last day at pointbreak lausanne and bought a pair of BATES 2290 (leather)... Very nice shoes... also bought a Inova 5 led light for everyday use...
