In the near future, nano tech could be used to replace DU rounds and armors. It would be the most lethal combination of firepower and protection without the environmental hazard. Sounds promising!

So how much stronger than Kevlar?

IIRC Kevlar is 5 times stronger than steel by weight as well. So unless they improve the technology or is much cheaper or also solves global warming, it might not be very cost effective...

Nano"insert other name here" always sounds cool.

I found the posted article a little bit lacking in information...

So I did some searching for something that provided actual information rather than dribble...

http://www.isracast.com/tech_news/091205_tech.htm

http://www.apnano.com/ (the tech is listed under, obviously, technology)

http://www.nanotech-now.com/news.cgi?story_id=13207

Looking over things I can see several articles that repeat the same information about stronger nano tube structures and production rates. It sounds like they are trying to hit several markets simultaneously with promises.

We'll see if they manage it in a couple years.

Right now it looks like talk.

With that said, interesting stuff if it truly works AND can be mass produced...
