ok guys ive searched google, mpphotos and other sites to try and find a place that would tell me how to make or weave a buddy bracelet or a paracord or 550 cord bracelet. I would like to weave my own but i do not know how. does anyone know of a website or anything? i know some one posted something about this but i searched the archive and didnt find anything.

There's a very good instruction on how to make'em on D. Sigurdsons hompage. (http://www.bns-code.org/)
(Unfortunately the hp is down at the moment)
Edit: The hp is working now.

I've seen those bracelets. They're made of 550 cord woven into a series square-knots so they look exactly like the Infantry shoulder cord, and they close with a BDU button. I've been wondering myself how to make one.

no.... im not to sure if its also called a 550 cord bracelet? the idea is to have spare paracord for an emergency. i did find a website that sells them but they sell them for 10 dollars, not exactly something that id want to spend 10 bucks on. here is the website.

if you scroll down some its there. ill see if i can find some pictures of people wearing it. i was just curious how you would weave it because it seems like a good way to have a little more paracord in a smaller space. thanks for your time.

Well, this is the best I've found so far: How To, no pics tho (http://mausergirl.blogspot.com/2005/09/infantry-bracelet_26.html)
I'll keep looking and see if I can find you something better

Paracord doesn't take up that much space in the first place; you could just take a small bundle of it and put it in a pouch or pocket. I doubt the reason for wearing the bracelet is for "emergency purposes".

There was a female I met once when i was at BIAP (who looks a lot like that girl in ACU's with Pig tails) that made me one and kinda showed me how when there was time to kill. Don't remember how, but it does soak up some sweat,lol...and if you wear a ring it's a good place to attach is as opposed to your finger.

its easy and dosent take to long to do
Take a piece of para cord size depending on how long you want it to be
now fold it in half so that the two running ends are in the center
cut some moore cord bout 3 times longer than the first piece, find the center and make a knot like the first part of tying your laces
now slide the knot over the first part a little way and pull tight
from there bring the left side over leaving a loop.
with the right side bring it over the left then under and through the loop and pull tight
now do exactly the same but on the right side, alternating from side to side as you go
wouldve drwan a picture but i dunno how to use the paint program lol

Hm, the weave looks exactly like what I used to use to make hemp necklaces.
http://www.beadage.net/hemp/two_knots.shtml If it is the same thing, just search for how to's on hemp necklaces.
Can anyone confirm?

how bout how to make the square 550 chord ones
we should start a thread about the many decorative uses of 550 chord. i.e. te use of 550 chord to cover steering wheels and how to make handy dandy sling extenders for weapons using it.
i bet chuck norris has a 550 chord bracelt right now

Everything I ever needed to know about Newfies I learned from South Park, and they didn't say anything about that.

550 cord + Poncho = tent
Quick lesson I learned from Engineers while I was trying to construct a tent out of 550 cord and a poncho:
Bungee cords > 550 cord

Agreed, but we're talking 550 here.
(Random aside: At Knox, I left with 550 cord and came back with bungees. The things were littering the ground wherever we setup camp... bungees and 7.62 casings, but we didn't have much use for those.)

I do agree with you about the bungee cords, and I use them myself. But if you've got your knots down, then 550 cord is better....

Hey now, I am not the one asking how to make "buddy" bracelets.
Kids made those things back when I was in high school in the 80s. They were called friendship or peace bracelets. Using different colored nylon or hemp rope.
The irony is nearly oooozing out of this one.

Not trying to insinuate that you are a brokeback buddy or anything, just making a joke....:)
