Whats your favoret BDU Gear?

Meaning Jackets, trousers, Smocks, caps, wet weather, warm weather and cold, etc etc...What ever youy wish to list...Not "What Looks Cool". I dont care for gear queer opinons but rather in terms of durability, comfort, camo & concealment quality, pocket capacity and location. That sort of thing.....

Or if you wish to post a rant about something that is total junk, feel free. Might help someone out.

My favoret thus far is British kit in DPM or any peice of British kit..I dont like their desert boots though.

MICH helmet kryloned or a WC boonie, OD baclava if you have the helmet on indoors or if its cold, BDUs, WC and well worn. tan boots, black or tan gloves. youll do well in a greenside enviroment of course. also at night, dont use black, use the recommended camo i told you for night ops.

Didnt last long as in the felt apart? Do i have to worry about my Smock? Or didnt last long as someone pecured them from your kit while you werent looking?

got savagely mauled by just about every barbed wire fence in northern ireland.smock should be ok but stand by to use an old 95 one to maybe reinforce the elbows if your going to be doing a lot of crawling about.

take that old ass M65 field jacket. get it teflon coated by your supply shop guys and have it tailored to you and you'll never wear gortex again. Big fan of the flyers glove when bought a size large to wear with OD green glove liners as well

Got a whole buncha pre-poly-pro underwear from my uncle, absolute sh*tload of it. Keeps me pretty warm in the mountains.

Other than that, I usually wear warm weather BDU's unless I'm sleeping in snow. I'm thinking of buyin' some of that Underarmor stuff, but I'm such a cheap SOB I don't think I'll see any for awhile.

^^Those moisture wicking shirts that go with the ACU seem to be pretty good and like the Under Armour stuff but like 15 bucks cheaper

A US boonie hat - I acquired one on E-bay that had OD 550-cord braided through the foilage loops.

What does everyone think about the gortex system? I am getting ready to go to the big sandbox and I am looking for advice on ways to keep warm.

I used US issue gortex for the first time this past weekend in the Mountains.....It was about 9 degrees the entire weekend with a steady wind of about 30mph that never let up..It broke the wind right good and i would have been in serious troubles if i hadnt taken it..It gets an A+ in my kit list........

Rip the foliage loops off...get rid of em..sew 1 inch peices of 550 here and there in stagard random spots for attaching camo.......

Gore-tex biggest problem it has is with the hotter the weather the less breathable it is and won't take sweat from the body like it does with cold weather.

Yes. It's the PLCE issue bag - weighs a fair bit and takes up half your bergan. It's okay to about -10C, after that you're really going to suffer.

Personally I've got a selection of softee bags that I've aquired over the years and an old (20 years) Rab down bag for the high mountains. The new(ish) issue jungle bag is however fantastic - even zips open to use as a duvet in those cushier locations.
