I'm planning to get either Safariland 6004 or BlackHawk Tactical SERPA Holster for a Colt 1911A1.
If you could help me to get some intel on the pro and con of both ..
(have eard about people losing their gun with the 6004 and the serpa being noisy ...)

I only have user experience with the 6004, I have not heard of anyone losing their weapon with the strap engaged. S-land has a newer design that requies the operator to rock the gun back prior to the draw, similar to the SSIII. A friend has one and swears it is just as fast as the 6004, but lock the gun in without having to do the strap. The flip top model 6004 I have is great.
I have heard that there have been several instances of UD/AD with the holster in the SERPA system, both in drop leg and belt model, because the finger to activate the release leaves the trigger finger too close to the trigger on the draw stroke. I have not talked to anyone using one, so that is third hand poop.

Noise-wise, the plastic of Safarilands seem denser than the SERPA's. I'd imagine that if you rubbed up against rocks or something big and hard (like my *****), then you' be makin' a bit more noise with the SERPA.

I own several 6004's, and I love them. Best on the market. BUT! For me they have one major drawback! I do not really know how to describe the part I mean, but let's describe it as a vertical strap, the one on which the leg plate or the holster itself (in case of a 3006 model) is attached. It's hard to bend, so it kind of tries to fold when I kneel.
The Y-harness of the BHI Serpa should solve this. I have only seen and holded one yet, for a Beretta series pistol with railed frame, but the Beretta didn't fit(!) and I did not try it on, unfortunately.
But for the record: I have NO fear of losing any of my pistols when using a Safariland 6004-series holster!!!

Serpa's retention tab get stuck if you get a loose rock or something small wedge in it. I seen it happen you get a pistol that is locked in your holster.
going ****e and doing all sort of excerise and then a transition, one student's glock was lock solid inside the holster, had to take it apart to figure out there was a small rock that got wedge init.
I have heard the AD but never seen it.

Wargod - you are preety right about the strap getting in the way while drawing in low position. Try wearing your 6004 higher on hip, remove upper strap, just leave the lower one. Cut the belt strap short.
Except for the main molded holster 6004 and bit-to-fragile Safari is nice because its damn simple and easy to mod. Ive seen fine adaptors for 6004 to use it with molle system worn for crossdraw config, or as a belt paddle holster.
Never used Sherpa though, so I cant comment. Safari has its drawbacks but with some regular training its really fast on the draw, and surely gives you this pleasant Wyatt Earp feeling when you learn to do the thing right.
