As snowfall sweeping in from the east covered almost all of Sweden on Friday morning, forecasters warned that temperatures would continue falling over the weekend.

The temperature plummeted to below -40C in Vajumat in Lappland overnight, a record for this winter. But with a vicious wind in the west and north of the country, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute did not rule out a drop to -50C.

Thermometers in Stockholm were showing -10C while Gothenburg and Malmö were relatively tropical, with -7C and -3C respectively.

Around 20cm of snow was expected to fall across Sweden during Friday.

"There's going to be more snow throughout the day, and all the way up the east coast people should prepare for snow all day tomorrow too," said Jan Näs at SMHI.

The icy weather is causing serious problems on the roads. On Thursday 32 vehicles were involved in a pile-up which left the E4 north of Stockholm closed for over five hours. Friday morning was no better, with dozens of smaller accidents reported across the country.

A number of minor roads in the west of Sweden were closed due to snowfall, while a limited train service was operating between Malmö and Ystad in the south.

The treacherous conditions are likely to remain for another few days.

"On Sunday afternoon the temperature is expected to climb a little, but the snow will stay," said Jan Näs.

Right now we're having a blizzard and my uncle up north says its already -55C. Pretty cool, haven't experienced anything like this before.

It ****ign rained this winter more than its snowed.

No problem. An 8 year old boy can buy a beer freely from the supermarket and enjoy it at home! How's that? No, we don't have "Systembolagets" here!!
But if under 17 you are not allowed to drink alcohol in bars and clubs, they request ID card.

Show their arses in the public, have a kind of *** in public etc. Even fighting with locals. Fortunately there is police, because locals, especially in Crete have guns (from small 9 mm pistols to WW II MP40 and AK-47!!)

Once a Briton (2002) bet with his friends that the driver of a garbage-collector truck won't start to move if he (the Briton) would have put his head under one of the wheels. His head was smashed...

Ahh damn you visited Little India? Must've been terrible, smell-wise. Ughh, I remember taking a class field trip there, and I have to admit that I've never smelled anything worse.

That's strange, because most of the cops patrol around Orchard Road as its basically the center of Singapore. I used to hang out a lot near Borders, specifically at the American Club which was about a 5-10 minutes walk from there. And when we were hungry, most of the time we would go to the Burger King which was right next to Borders. Pretty convenient. :)

Yeah you're right I should be asleep. My sleeping patterns aren't normal though. No matter what time I go to sleep, I always wake up at 2 A.M. It's quite scary sometimes. And it doesn't matter how tired I am when I go to sleep either. Always 2 A.M...

I also have an unusually high tolerance for pain killers and sleeping pills. Nothing I have is strong enough, and I doubt a doctor would prescribe anything strong to me because of my age and also those strict laws when it comes to prescribing drugs.
