It's "Danes". And Hans isn't a Danish name, it's Scandinavian. Other than that, I don't really have anything to say.

On July 27th, the Swedish radio show Morgonpasset (http://sr.se/cgi-bin/p3/programsidor/index.asp?ProgramID=2315) of Sveriges Radio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveriges_Radio)'s channel P3 made a series of prank calls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prank_calls) to the Danish and Canadian foreign ministries regarding the dispute. The Danish foreign minister was reached by Måns Nilsson (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=M%C3%A5ns_Nilsson&action=edit), one of the radio show hosts, who announced that Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden) was also making a claim to the island and that a bottle of banana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana) liqueur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liqueur) had been buried on the island and that a statue of famous Swedish TV-personality Lennart Hyland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennart_Hyland) was to be erected over the spot. A call was also made to the Canadian Foreign Ministry, where Nilsson with a fake Danish accent claimed to be "the Danish foreign minister" and a request was made to pass on a message to the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minister_of_Foreign_Affairs_%28Canada%29) to cease the conflict and share the island equally with Denmark.

Soon to claim the island: Norway, Iceland, UK, USA...
Anyway, we Greeks almost went to war for a similar case called "Imia". Hope you guys won't reach this level of conflict.

Never fear Canada.
Denmark will soon be part of the Commonwealth. The 2nd in line to the Dannish Thrown is an Aussie.

Yeah but you Greeks and Turks have been going at it since the dawn of time. So really you blokes don't even need an excuse to have a shin dig.
Your respective leaders probably phone each other and say "It's been awhile. We should have a fight about something"

And Hans isn't a Danish name, it's Scandinavian.
It is more German than Scandinavian, and being short for Johannes (Döparen in Swedish). Hans has been used in Sweden since the 14th century. From the 18th century Hans had the nameday during midsummer, and ever since in Denmark and Norway midsummer is still called Saint Hans' evening.
So the island is German. The Germans need lebensraum.

And since Swedish is a Germanic language... sure, that'd make sense.
