PermskiiOMON, you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of Russian aircraft (on sorties etc) over Chechnya? Particularly ones of the Su-25 (Cy-25)? Would be excellent if you did have and you could post them! :)

Molli' ;)

PermskiiOMON-

Excellent preview for Friday's post. I wish the
West had wised up sooner about the boyeviki's
true nature. Just wanted to add a mention about the
helicopter pilots and aircrewmen who support the VDV (Airborne)
Spetsnaz & Motorized Infantry.

Regards & Thanks,

Many of these guys seems to be quite old for being conscripts. Kontraktniks?

Hmmm interesting kontracts eh. So roughly what percentage of the Russian military is "Knotracts", and what exactly is there role?
Thanks

emmm well you see a contract is what you sign to stay in the army and get paid better money.

Makes sense. I presume these people have BTDT for along time and have alot of experience.

For Kontracted soldiers do they have to buy there own gear or are the issued gear? Do they often have rank over conscripts?

Thanks PermskiiOMON for the reply.

Recent arrival to the board. Great pics!

In addition to what ßå$tĮТHÏ¿ð asked regarding 'Kontracts'...

Please, elaborate on what you mean when you say 'professional'.

Are 'Kontract' troops organized into separate units that are trained, equipped and led differently than 'regular' troops (similar to the post-WWII French practice of using conscripts for their NATO and National Defense forces, and professional troops for their Colonial/Overseas forces)?

Or are Kontracts simply long-service, professional NCOs?

If I remember my studies, during the CCCP-era junior officers would be assigned responsibilities that would normally be performed by someone of NCO rank in a Western army (Seargent, Corporal, etc...).

Thanks in advance for your response!
