The helmet on the left I've seen before, I believe it's a Kevlar helmet being used know. I would have to ask a friend in Moscow to confirm... on the other hand, I love that camo... everytime I see a pic of the Russian military or police, I see a new version not seen before.... kool

I wouldn't say ridiculous, it just seem's to flair out quite a bit, and that make's it look a little odd

I don’t think it looks ridiculous, it’s nice to have something different of the PASGT style helmets.

The helmet on the right is an new helmet

here is some info

A new series of ballistic fabric/polymer helmets is ready for full-scale production. The helmets feature high level of protection against small arms and fragments. They are lighter than similar Russian and foreign helmets with the same protection level by 0.3-0.5 kgs. The weight of the lightest helmet version is only 900 g; protected area: 11-13 sq.dm; protection level against fragments: V50=600...620 m/s; against small arms: PM pistol at 5 m.

so would you mind to explain what is the difference between American Kevlar and Russian Kevlar. I mean Kevlar as a substance is it different, way different?

Is American Kevlar a brand name of some helmet model.?

A modern combat helmet are not made to stop a bullet they are made to stop slow flying shards from artillery etc not a high-speed bullet

This does not include the titanium helmets worn by Alpha troops. Those are mode to stop bullets. But indeed the helmets used by troops in the field are only meant to stop fragment and pistolrounds. A rifleround will go through them like a hot knife through butter (unfortunately)

About the 'flaring out' of the older kevelar helmet; This is actually quite nice, since it allows you to wear all sorts of communication equipments under your helmet.

no ****. Did you see german helmet or spain helemets from 1943, they seems to me pretty much same shapes and forms.

A bit different but, hey you can't get very creative on a helmet.
So what do you think that western bastards still the idea from a germans.
Or how about you 'll do some research and found more same helmets from mid centuries as well.
I know you are not very bright and don't know a **** about stuff you are talking about, but at least you can think it through before posting

What quite few people fail to realise is that the helmet on the left is being distributed to elitist army units (not specnaz) as a replacemnt for their old M68 type helmets, specnaz will still keep using their maska's (aka. "motorcycle helmet"), whilst helmet on the right (PASGT looking) is being hardly used at all and is not being produced en-masse ....
