A crew chief looks throught the “hell hole” of a CH-47 Chinook Cargo Helicopter Dec. 28 while delivering humanitarian supplies in Northern Pakistan. The earthquake that shook Pakistan on Oct. 8, 2005 wiped out critical supply routes to numerous Pakistanis and helicopters have been the only feasible way of supplying the people with food and water. Since there are few places for helicopters to land, loads of supplies are hooked up externally and are safely dropped.

The SA80 Underslung Grenade Launcher (UGL) system consists of a Heckler & Koch AG-36 40mm grenade launcher and ladder sight fitted to the SA80. It is to be issued to infantry units on a scale of one per fire team. It will allow the fire team to deliver effective fragmenting munitions out to 350 metres. Advantages of the UGL system are low recoil, ease of use, reduced ammunition weight and the ability to have a chambered grenade at the ready whilst continuing to fire the SA80.

The system is currently fielded with Practice and High Explosive (HE) ammunition natures. In time, the UGL’s ammunition types will be expanded to include illumination and smoke rounds. There will be six UGLs per platoon resulting in greatly increased flexibility and weight of fire. Longer term enhancements to the system may eventually include a Fire Control System, extended range ammunition and buckshot rounds for close-quarter battle.

Stupid question number one...

Whay are there so many isreali soldiers in kenya? I think its great that they are helping out, it just seems weird that they are there. I am just curious.

Cheers,
paul

they are not actually soldiers (not right now at least - reservers). Rescue team. Why other countries not sended rescue teams over there? wrong forum to ask - israelis are too "flamable" topic.

Stupid question number one...

Whay are there so many isreali soldiers in kenya? I think its great that they are helping out, it just seems weird that they are there. I am just curious.

Cheers,

Well Kenya wanted the best. :) They contacted the Israeli foreign minister and asked for help.
They just have some kind of equipment that is ideal for this situation. It can recognise breaths through all that concrete by a scan from above (it uses either infrared or RF signal).

And let's quote their PM:"We will buy any equipment that the Israelis are using here".

BTW, their's also an American team there.

Thanks for the nice words , dude .
Now , I was expecting for this kind of responces ,and that really works me out . And I explain why .
What is so great about Israeli army that it helps ? What is so unusual in it ? Israeli army was in ****load of rescue operations and military hospital missions in different countries all around the world . I understand that you mean nothing bad by your kind words , but it makes me all worked out . Why is it so unusual ? And why it is so "great" ? That the bloodthirsy Israeli army took a minute off from opressing and killing innocent Palestinians , and actually did something good for a change ?
There is nothing good , great or excellent about it . It's help , where the help is needed , that's all . Nothing unusual about it . It was done in many places by IDF, it needs to be done . It's nothing to cheer or wonder about ...

Nothing against you dude , don't get me wrong . Just this kind of responce , I was shure it would come .

It only makes sense that they would be there, just look at how close they are. They are the closest country in proximity to that part of Africa capable of performing rescue missions of this type.

What's certain is that 669 isn't there. Their job in war time is to rescue pilots if they ditch their aircraft, to save soldiers that are deep in enemy territory and as a service for the civilians they rescue people and animals that are stuck on cliffs, vadies, etc...

These are Pikud Ha'oref soldiers (rear command), they are mostly reserve soldiers. Like all Pikud Ha'oref rescuers they are trained with clearing an infected zone (not just biological but also chemical and nuclear).

What is it that you think is wrong about that post? The guy is just saying he's suprized to see a counter-NBC-unit over there. What's the problem with that? The reservist (man in the photo) has the beret of the Home Front Command, this while the NBC unit in the IDF is a part of the Combat Engineering Corps.

Dude I have been in the army for around five years now and I can say for sure there is nothing wrong with taking it easy and putting your hands in your pockets. That's what they're there for. Now occassionally you get these anal mothers in the army who want everyone to take their hands out of their pockets and for all your kit to be placed the same way and that just doesn't fly. No offence to your former officer leader but that is just unecessary. Controlling personal tics is just retardo.

The NBC units aren't a part of the H.F.C.

The NBC units have a silver beret as they a part of the Combat Engineering Corps.
