I don't know how you are, but I cannot bare watching Reality TV.

I hate it all

surviver, amazing race, dancing with stars, skating with stars, real world, road rules, american idol, ....all of them.

When will this madness end? Do people really have no respect for them selves or their family members?

This crap makes me want to vomit.

Reality TV is great. Common people love it, because it's easy to understand TV. The viewer identifies with the 'character' on TV and lives for material wealth and nasty slander too.

The characters are type cast, so every steriotyp and personality type is represented. This gives to viewer oppotunity to chose friends and enemies. The viewer will then root on the character who he identifies himself with the most, the viewer are then able to praise his own good features and secondguess bad decisions. Conflicts will also appear to create an enemy or bad characteristic, the viewer can then distance himself from the badguys, which is another way for confirming oneself, ones prejudies and ones images of what's good, bad and morally correct.

I hate reality TV. But sometimes bad TV is better than none TV at all.

Eh, I'm not a fan of reality TV. But I do enjoy watching American Idol.

Reality TV usually has very little to do with reality. You could argue that Survivor, Amazing Race, American Idol, etc. are just the new era of gameshows, not reality TV. I don't watch gameshows and I don't watch these.

Reality TV that is actually reality is things like The Osbornes, Being Bobby Brown, etc., that show a day in the life (of course some of it hammed up...). Some of these kinds of shows can be really good (like the bounty hunters on HBO or that one about Rollergirls).

to whine "oh no...it's on everywhere all the time" simply tells me one thing.
that the person is either emo and likes crying...or has little to no self control.

I have no clue if American Idol is in season 1 or season 12
Why?
I pay no attention to it.
On the rare occasions I watch any television...I certainly dont sit there during the commercials...I pop the mute button and do things.
Also...the type of TV I do rarely watch...has little to no realityTV type garbage on it.

Might I suggest PBS Frontline or Nova.....LOL

There's another problem though. Tabloids fill their pages with reality TV garbage and that's imo harder to avoid because 1. online tabloids tend to have other stupid news of interest too, and 2. they have posters out on the town in every damn shop... some new scandal every day...

Or maybe its because people want to see the drama of other peoples' lives while trying to get away from their own. They want to see how other people would act in a controlled environment while comparing it to their own.....

Eh I am just tired of how low some networks are going with these shows. As for this one...I am just tired of the race thing. Almost every TV show and sometimes cartoons drop something in about it.

I think racism is stupid and just tired of hearin about it, that and combined with making a reality TV show thats basic reason will be showing how one is treated over the other and how those respond to what the others have gone through all there lives.........seen and heard it before.

I feel bad for those who are treated wrongly and think those who still believe in racism need to be smacked upside the head with the maturity stick and grow up.
I as anyone hope for a day when racism is gone, but sadly it probably will be awhile.

Its not for you my very informed and smart freind. Its for middle America where they see someone that is not the same color every 6 months. Its for the ignorant(misinformed bunch) that think that racism doesn't exist anymore. Its for those who only see a minority through a damned tv screen and develop stereotypes.

It does not just exist in outright racist like the KKK but in more subtle forms.

These shows are huge money makers folks and they are not going anywhere!

Since the writers strike here in Hollywood, Studios changed content to reality TV which requires very little writing and are very cheap to produce. They caught on like a firestorm and now there is no end in sight.
