Chris had sent in a copy earlier today, but I ran across a higher quality copy of it, so here it is.

http://media.militaryphotos.net/misc/ac-130_gunship_video_divx.avi -- 35 megs. Right click and save.

Shows an AC-130 gunship operation where they destroy various vehicles and personnel outside several buildings in Afghanistan. It's rather scary how well they can see people and objects. No enemy is safe with one of these overhead.

As there were many posts going back and forth concerning the above video, I'll just sum up the results instead of leaving all of those prior messages to clutter up this topic.

1. The above video is not classified footage. This has been solidly established. This video was shown for a 2-3 day period on the Fox News Channel many times which has an audience of many millions of people. Many other websites, more popular than this one, still have this video on their front page.

2. Many people have expressed their opinion, that videos like this shouldn't be shown to the public. I respect their opinion but I don't share it, and I'm not legally required to do so. No amount of harassment is going to change this fact.

Here's the thing:

I was referred to this site by an associate. I have spent some time going through your board here. While much information on this site is wrong (thank goodness) there are some subjects that should not be discussed in an open forum.

Now, Hood, you're gonna get all huffy and say that you disagree and whatnot. Before you do, I ask only that you go to the following website, read it and then ask yourself if you are being a responsible administrator http://www.nv.doe.gov/opsec/default.asp .

Currently, my vote is no.

I posted as a guest twice on this thread and offered to contact you, Damien, but you got offended and deleted everything. I do not know who this other 'Guest' is who you refer to as some kind of MIB, but I'll tell you one thing: he's right.

You have been asked nicely to police your own site.

Concerning offering to contact me, this forum is as close to contact as I'm interested in getting. There's plenty of weirdos out there. I'm sure you can understand this as you're familiar with other military message boards. I deleted all the previous posts because it was getting cluttered, and profanity based name calling gets no one anywhere. If someone can't get their point across without it, it shows that they need it instead of using facts to further their argument.

Concerning all this Op Sec stuff, I have yet to run across anything that can't be found on our own government's websites, or any number of standard reference websites. I'd suggest taking this matter up with the various .mil, .gov, the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, and your local public libary. If you can get them to censor their information on the subject, then I'll react in kind. Talking about the CIA or Delta force, and sharing information that's available every Tuesday and Thursday night on DSC is NOT considered a taboo subject. If you find something in particular that falls outside of this type of information, please feel free to post about it and I'll act on it when it's justified.

It looks like I was correct in saying that there are weirdos out there. Now they're calling the houses of people I know, looking for me.

My sympathy. There are way too many Walter Mittys out there and the web attracts them like flies to you know what.

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year though. I was in Sydney for NYs- awesome!

All the best

Here's another link for a video about the AC-130. Good stuff. Hit the AC-130 graphic on the left side once the page loads.

Ultimately they're really not saying anything other than to avoid hitting the mosque building, and "That guy's still moving, BOOM direct hit!"... not really worth transcribing. The interesting stuff is the video, not audio.

This video has also been somewhat widely distributed on the internet. Another forum where I moderate, a 16-year-old kid from South Florida posted a link to it.

One of our regular forum members is a CNA and said it had been de-classified and there was no problem with it.

Yeah, the original post date was from december 17th. As with most of these things, they cycle to the front every now and then for people who didn't catch it the first time.
