Yeah. I'm tired of CAT cables spreading all over the house like farmgirl's hair on a bad day.

BTW, good choice on the sound card. Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS + Logitech 5.1 speakers= shiznit

i only have headphones right now, but when i take my computer home i'm going to connect it to the home theater system with 6.1 surround sound. doom3 will be incredible. :D

Computers aren't that expensive over here in the states thanks to www.newegg.com

You can build a better computer than Dell has to offer for $300 (without the monitor). My dad paid close to $3000 for a PC 15 years ago

Okay boys.... I need help. I'm getting a new laptop this weekend. I'm not wireless at home, and don't want to spend the money to do that right now, however, I would like my laptop to have the capability, so that when I'm on the road I can get online. What do I need to have in place so that I can get online at say an airport or hotel that has a "hotspot"?

i learned that you can sacrifice 'top of the line' products and get more for your money.

i spent around $800 for a full system that is readily upgradable and flexible. you just can't do that with a pre-made computer.

All you need is a PCMCIA card and stick it in your laptop. The Toshiba laptop I show you has that capability.

All you need is a PCMCIA card and stick it in your laptop. The Toshiba laptop I show you has that capability.

Thanks! So.... if I'm running off my school's server when I'm here, do I have to change anything when I use the wireless card away from school? I'm sorry if these are stupid questions. I'm just one of those "turn it on and it magically works" kind of people. :)

I'm assuming your school has wireless internet access. You need the computer geeks in your school to help you setup your laptop because most school network is encrypted.

As for "hotspots", you probably don't need any setup and passwords. I think you need password if you want to use wireless internet in Starbuck.

mine works at my house and my parents house but then we all use btbroadband.

I got my wireless card of the internet for about £11, which was about $16 before the dollar nosedived.

I spent almost an entire day last week drawing cables trough my neighbours house. Everything nicely stashed away out of view 'n such. Made me a 100 bucks :lol: (Otherwise he'd have to get a cable guy to set it up which would have cost him even more so we both gained from it woot )
