View Full Version : Newbies
I often see people here referring to "newbies" and I'm a little curious about how it works.
For instance, I've been registered longer than the vast majority of people here, I just don't post as much. I've been registered for about thirteen months but still have less than 150 posts while Memphiz has been registered exactly one year less but has four times as many posts as I do.
Out of the two of us, whom is considered more of a newbie?
I know it's a stupid question and the answer doesn't matter, I'm just curious.
the people that ask to see a delta patch are newbies.
otherwise I'd say it's used as an insult, calling someone a newbie is like calling someone a bastard doesn't mean they are actually new or illigitimate

I think a newbie is the one who doesn't know what he is talking about and doesn't understand the "common-sense" about asking stupid questions, no matter how long you've been here

What about answering a question that you consider to be stupid? What does that say about you?

Shut up Newbie and make me a Sandwich!!!! ;)
Just kidding. I respect an old user with few posts more than an asshole that posts 50 anti Israel, imperialist America, Eurowuzzie and gay France Threads on his first day!

What about answering a question that you consider to be stupid? What does that say about you?Dude, slow your horses down!!! Did I say anywhere your question was stupid? You must be thinking so yourself. And even if I thought so, I would just be trying to help you out... :|
My apologies Dmitri, I completely misunderstood what you meant. I thought you were suggesting I shouldn't be asking a question like that because it was "common sense" and should know the answer.

It doesnt matter how long they have been here, it matters about the quality of the material that they post and how well thought out there arguements are. If there posts are complete garbage with no thought put into them, or are just nothing more then bias its quite easy to tell who the n00b is.

If you have any doubts as to your place in our food chain, than my son you are a newbie. Us old timers(Trigger, Stoli, Chops, Beowulf, Tane, the list goes on) are cocky and arrogant enough to know exactly where we belong. Being a newbie is an attitude. You act like one and you will be treated like one. But if you show up, S-two for a little bit, then pick your spots, your will gradually become one of the boys(or girls).
It's not that I'm having doubts, it's just that I'm unsure of the definition of newbie. As I said, I don't post here much and the only other forum I frequent isn't really the kind of place where terms like that get used so the "etiquette" of this kind of stuff is a little bit foreign to me.
Also, just wanted to point out that in regards to your old timers list - there's only one person on it that's been here longer than me and it isn't you, does that mean I get to call you son? ;) :D

I find that hysterical coming from a bloke who asks complete strangers how often they crack one off.

It has nothing to do with how long you've been a registered user. TriggerPuller has only been around this site for a few weeks and I wouldn't call him a newbie. (He'd kill me if I said that anyway, but that's another story). On the other hand there are people who have been around as long as I have that still haven't learnt there lessons after repeated attempts by others to help them see the error of their ways. They may shake that new guy handle, but they'll always be assholes. It's all in the way you handle yourself and in the input you contribute to this site.
And only my pappy calls me son. ;)
Thanks for the help JiJo, if I can't call you son then I'm going to call you Mr Miyagi for explaining that newbiness is a zen thing and all in the persons head.

You know Gaz, Ron Jeremy does resemble an older, more hirsute, heavier version of Johnny Depp. Maybe calling you son isn't such a bad idea after all. ;)

I feel you, gaz, I'vde been registered for almost a year now, lurking these forums, but only recently started actively being involved with the forum. Its funny how it feels like I know a lot of people that post here but I still feel like an outsider. :( Oh well at least im on my way to earning my first star :D
