Hey OT, I've got a problem with my computer. Whenever I start Internet Explorer, or a new window for it, "Microsoft Money Installer 2003," pops up and starts to go to work on my computer. Of course, I don't actually have the installer on my computer, so it only gets so far before it asks me where it is... How do I get rid of it? It's annoying and makes the computer nearly unusable.

Thanks guys.

try going to:
control panel - add/remove programs.
look for microsoft money in there, and if it is there, click the button to remove it.

thats just a possibility, otherwise i'm not sure.

internet explorer is perfect minus the tabbed browsing if you know how to spot spyware

I decided to get Firefox about the same second I fixed the problem. I got the Fasterfox and Forecastfox extensions about the same time. I now realise how utterly insane I was to not have gotten it sooner.

Keep using IE and you'll find out why people use Firefox.

A friend of my GF was using my pc recently, and to my horror was using IE for the net. When i suggested FF or Opera, she was like 'Fire-whatnow?'. When i explained why, her response was 'but IE is the internet...!'

I backed out of the room slowly so as not to catch the mental off her.

 I had the same thing with my brother recently. He got a new computer and couldn't understand why games weren't playing as fast as they should for his connection speed. The processes bit in Task manager was filled with all sorts of crap.

I got him to format it and told him to install Firefox first. He didn't :cantbeli:and had the same old **** again. Then he tried again, did what I said and has had no problems.

Unfortunately, as more and more users switch to Firefox, there are increasingly more exploits being written to target Mozilla/Firefox users. Sure, Mozilla is safer at the moment than IE, but ironically, every user that you switch over only increases the chances of getting hacked in the future.

She's an academic researcher, so uses the net all the time for work. The ignorance!
