The Invasion of Iraq
FRONTLINE marks the first anniversary of the Iraqi War with a two-hour documentary investigation that recounts the key strategies, battles and turning points of the war from both sides of the battlefield. Through firsthand accounts from many of the war's key participants — from strategists in Washington to the soldiers who actually fought the battles — the program promises to be a definitive television history of America's most recent war.

I stayed up till almost 3 in the morning with classes the next day watching the 2nd Brigade of the 3rd ID rolling across the sand berms, bombs exploding all over Baghdad, and the air sirens going off in Kuwait. Those have to be some of the best hours of my life so far, watching the start of an entire war on my tv, LIVE.

it was interesting in the interviews but the screenies were kinda boring... not much action, just soldiers shooting and buildings. although that brit with the rocket skipping across that lake was neat...

I was only able to watch about the last hour of it and noticed two things. 1 was that it had some pretty cool interviews with commanders and grunts with some sweet footage. 2 was the fact that it seemed a little biased towards the Iraqi people with all the stuff trying to sympathize with them about how they dont know how to react in a crossfire or combat situation that they walked into. That was extremly gay as hell.

I don't like how it ended with ex-Sec of the Army Thomas White basically saying I told you so to the US military. :bash: It should have ended on a happy note, like flash forward, catching Saddam or at least killing Uday and Quesay in August.

Ya good stuff, its on again an hour later. Funny how Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld didnt think occupying Iraq wouldnt be a problem and that Rumsfeld said that only 40k troops would be enough.
Theres going to be a live chat on Friday.

When it came on at 12 here I taped it. Interesting note that the Apache unit that was shot all to hell said that they walked right into an ambush. I havent heard that before.

What is the talk about the Fedayeen and the dog??
I just watched a program about a British field hospital. Wasn't very good. I also watched something filmed by a journalist who was embedded with some US Marines. Again, wasn't all that good. It followed them across the border, into Basrah airport (I think), and then up to Baghdad.

I obviously didn't see it, but I've heard about the Fedayeen taking live dogs and just tearing them apart :(, forking arseholes.

I was moved by the interview with the USMC Captain from TF Tarawa regarding the fight for the bridges in Nasariyah. Watching the news at the time, I knew we were taking casualties, but the numbers seemed small when compared to the size of the overall force. I had no idea that a single rifle company had lost 18 KIA and 14 WIA in that engagement. That is a heavy loss.

1/4 of a company, thats pretty bad for one engagement.
The Apaches let me down. I would have liked to seen Hinds in action and see if they could have made it to the medina line.

That would've been tough... what was the casualty rate on Tarawa though?
I wonder what the veterens of Tarawa think about this task force being named after them. So in 2010 in NK will we have a "TF An Nasariyah"???
