He must have a Category BS firearms permit.

In case my sarcasm was missed, in short, no.
Not at all possible he has shot one, let alone owns one.
The Barrett is over here in very limited numbers & even those that used them during the AMR 50 trials don't pull them out regularily.
A cadet wouldn't even get to pull a few with a AW50F.

Is there a cadet out there who isn't a total muppet? I don't recall if I've come across one yet.

Hey man I was a cadet. *cough* more then 10 years ago *cough*
Anyway the only **** we ever shot was M16's at Singo. Apart from that the only other shooting you did was with .22's and .303's with the local gun club.
If you was a senior cadet you may and it's a pretty big ****ing may of been invited to a weekand with the reserves shooting off blanks or attending one of their range shoots. But even then it "dident actually happen"
The last I heard because of what happened in Tassie cadets shooting period was canned.

Well the kid's a bull****ter- no way in hell has he access to a Barrett as BiZ has already pointed out. The photo must be from the US or Europe as there ain't no M82s floating around for civ or cadet use in this part of the world. If you know the guy invite him to join up here... I'm sure BiZ and a few of us mods would enjoy a little fun...

The good thing about him posting that photo is that you now have a partial ID on him, so all you have to do is simply request further photos of him in uniform/parade/cadets etc...or even pull out the big guns (so to speak) and request a photo of his "personal" .50cal.

Whats the story with Aussy gun laws? I here they're pretty tight to say the least.
I shot at an ANZAC day shooting comp run by civi's. An ex aussy army W.O. shooter (and Queens medalist) shot there, and had a rifle he kept in NZ for shooting comps, it was a "civi" AUG Steyr (slightly different to an I.W. or F-88 Steyr) he also did the same with a rifle in the US, Is this a bit of an indicator of how tight things are over there?

Yeah it is. No semi centrefires, no pump or semi shotguns (only exemption is primary producers and the like), highly regulated handgun ownership (recently including draconian and downright stupid restrictions on calibre- it is now much more difficult to own a .45 for example than a 9milly). There are loop-holes but not many. I'm not a huge fan of what successive governments have done to firearms control in this country.

So what happened in Tassie with the cadets? Hopefully chopper wasn't teaching cadets how to shoot. Imagine that!
BTW, cant wait to see if this numpty shows up here on this forum!
