If you want to join an Airborne unit (like the 82nd) What training's do you have to go trough?
is it just the normal basic army training and Infantry combat course where normal Infantry soldiers go trough (+ jump school) Or is there a longer harder training like a basic airborne course.

Jump school and the Basic Airborne course are one in the the same. If you want to be a Infantryman in the 82ND ABN DIV, you would attend Basic, AIT (11 series) (OUST) and then Airborne school all at Ft. Benning, GA. Upon completion you would report to your Unit which may or may not have a Unit sponsored Indoctrination program.

Yeah but do they gett a thougher training. Airborne school is just parachute training. But Airborne soldiers are elite so don't they have to do a though training like Ranger school. Cause they have to be fitter than normal infantry men. Don't they have a training course like the British para's where in just a few succeed?

No. Anybody regardless of their MOS speciality can go to airborne school, even ROTC cadets and Nasty Girl.

Airborne school was quite easy. Ranger school, now there was a different story!
Airborne school is mostly running everywhere, but it isn't bad. It's a school to train you how to properly jump from an Airplane while in flight, not do special ops missions. But, it's really good to have!

No Ranger school is not required, but it is very commen and highly encouraged for those in leadership roles (Fire Team Leaders all the way to Div. COs) and can only enhance any soldier, anywhere. There is no official addition to PT requirements for those assigned to a Parachute Infantry Regiment, but the Airborne community as a whole holds its self to a higher standard.

In addition, if you go to an Airborne Infantry unit, you will be doing lots and lots of PT, for sure ! We used to say "The 82nd is an Army within an Army." We had much higher standards, and that's just the way it was.
Ranger school will kick your a$$, if your'e not prepared for it !
