Despite it's shortcomings, I can't help but like the AV-8B. Simply awesome aircraft.

That isn't an AV-8B, its a BAe Harrier GR.7 p-)

I know, I just thought I'd mention it because the AV-8B is a Harrier as well. The AV-8B and GR.7 are very similar, anyway.

No Fabio... that was THE BEST DECISION they could make.
We had 200 or so Mig21 within their operational life( during WP there was a great shortage of fuel so they site and wait). And we had 18 Mig29 that where in very bad shape(they flew ver much, their pilots where considered elite),in need of capital repairs, with accute lack of spare parts.

So they had to choose from a plane that was in ok condition,in large numbers, witch is being repair in Romania, with more than enough spare parts, Mig21 and a plane that with almost 0 spare parts left witch need to be repaired in Russia(big problem with respecting contracts see Bulgarian Mig's 29 repairs).

They started modernisation of the Mig 21 in 93. The Mig29 had also a modernisation programe the SNIPER, but there where no point in upgrading Mig29 (a lot more costly), so in consequence Mig29 was grounded and placed in storage(read let to rot).

AH! ok so...even if it's a pity that mig29 doesn't fly any more there.... :(
