The Greek forces have older US M60A3's (If I can remember correctly they had another model of the M60A3 in use) Leopard 1's and Leopard 2A5's that have the Greek designation of "Leopard 2A5GR".
The Leopard 2A5GR is their newest "acquisition", naturally.
EDIT: the Greek designation of the Leopard 1 is called "Leopard 1A4GR1"

I know that Greece got a number of former East German Army vehicles.
BMP-1, RM-70 and I think some 2S1's or was it 2S3's? Odd stuff to have in your order of battle!? but hey, if it works!
*Sweden also got BMP-1's and MT-LB's!
*Turkey got BTR-60 and BTR-70's along with BM-21(?)

The armoured corps is the hardest working in the Greek Army with the strictest discipline (along with Special Forces). We take pride of that. We wear a black beret and we are called the Blacks.

The contenders recently were M1A2, Leopard 2AV, Challenger II and Leclerc and the Leopard won.

Nah, I'm not Greek. We were there with a program we call FAEP (Foreign Academy Exchange Program). Visited the Hellenic Army Academy for a week or so. They took us all over Greece (didn't get to Delphi though :( ). Then a couple weeks later 2 Greek cadets came over to the US and we showed them a good time (hopefully anyways).
Little tower jump in a dress uniform (gotta love it).

Sorry I didn’t see you reply many countries did show great interest in the Strv 103 and it where down in Greek in the 60 or70 If I remember it correct p-)
but you did choice the Leopard 1 GR instead for the S-tank probably because that half of NATO did use it and it was much cheaper.

Yes, I remember Cyprus went on a shopping spree in France in the 80s, buying 36 AMX30B2, a number of TRF1 155 cannons, Mistral MANPADS, about 130 VAB APCs and God knows what else....

All AMX30 have been sold off to Cypriots and Arabs. The gearbox is abysmally complicted to service and the armour too thin for nowadays. Good effective range and speed though.

French tanks have always had better guns than other westers equilavents. The AMX-30s gun is longer than the L7 gun thus giving it better range. Same goes for the Leclerc. I think it's gun is 52 calibres long compared with the 44 calibres of other 120mm guns(except the L55).
As for french weapons in Cyprus there are also some Gazelles and the King of mortars the 120mm rifled MO120RT F1!!!!
And others ofcourse. You could be a little bit cheaper though.....

Every man who got close to the "Rayé Tracté modèle F1" loves it...I saw hundreds of rounds fired by those beasts and it's always an impressive sight...
That was when French infantry unit still had their Heavy Mortar platoons...now they are part of the artillery....sigh....

I don’t know about the Tanks but France do have a very good Military industry, so Greece and Cyprus should buy some toys from them, I am very glad about the cooperation Greece and France have about the Neuron UCAV.
