Iran’s Judiciary Chief condemns IAEA resolution
Mon. 06 Feb 2006
Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, Feb. 06 – Iran Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi condemned on Monday a resolution by the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency reporting Tehran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council, the official state news agency reported.

“The action taken by the board of governors in this regard is a dark stain for international organisations”, Shahroudi said at a meeting of senior judiciary officials.

“From the beginning, their plan was for no Muslim country, especially the Islamic Republic, to have peaceful nuclear technology”, the Judiciary Chief charged.

The senior cleric described nuclear capability as Iran’s “natural right”, adding that nations have become “aware” that the “era of technological colonialism” was over.

He told the world to take note that Iran would stand against any “conspiracy”.

“The Muslim and vigilant people in Islamic Iran will resist western plots and Zionists' conspiracies at all times and consider confronting such plots as a duty”, he added.

Shahroudi also blamed “Zionists” for the publication in the European press of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammad negatively – an action which sparked protests across Europe.

“The Zionists are trying to desecrate Islamic sanctities. This has incited the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and brought about their strong reaction in various countries”, he said.

“This unforgivable insult stems from blasphemy against all the divine messengers. The primary instigator of this action is global Zionism”, he added.

I thought it was "Some Puerto Rican guy"!

...

You know what's ridiculous? The reaction by the unruly Muslim rabble (not the whole of the ummah).

Don't these idiots understand how they are being played? The crap from this Iranian cleric/minister just proves how stupid it is.

Of course, where are the moderate Muslims who are willing to shout these people down (not just pointing fingers at the West)? If the Muslim moderates don't take control over the debate, then things are going to get even uglier.

Lots of prognostications flying. Heres one from a UK blog

"But who wanted or caused the heat to become so turned up and why at that this particular moment?

The clue to the answers to this second question lies in a second event almost certain to occur to today, if it has not already happened by the time this blog gets posted. This is the likely decision today in Vienna by the International Atomic Energy Agency to report Iran to the UN Security Council for continuing with its programme of nuclear research. If that decision should occur, when the UN Security Council gets round to considering what form of sanctions to impose on Iran, guess to whom chairmanship of the Council will have passed. You’ve got it... plucky little Denmark.

Suddenly, the pieces fall into shape. The rumpus suddenly escalated, complete with fabricated offensive cartoons, to so enflame Muslim opinion that Denmark could be intimidated directly through a threatened Muslim boycott of its goods, or indirectly by the EU fearful of a wider boycott, into voting in favour of Iran. Yeah but what Isreal blames Iran for are issues that are generally agreed upon by other nations. But Iran is just making this stuff up as she goes. I remember a interview on TV with Irshad Manja author of "The Trouble with Islam" (a must read and no Muslim bashing in the book, as she is a Muslim) and the interviewer asked her about "why such a double standard in the Muslim world?" she went on to explain that it is a tactic, a tactic of using western values againts westerners because westerners are stronger at our present time. The interviewer asked her to explain and she went on with the example of how the 911 hijackers were devout Muslims but yet went to strip bars, wore western clothing, slept with prostitutes , shaved and some even ate pork all to fool the enemy into think they(Muslims) are anything but the enemy of their(Muslims) enemy. Also she metioned that it was in some versus of the Koran. She continued to explain(back then) exactly the issue that has past with Denmarks newspaper exercising their freedom of speech, and she said something in the order that "the west respects all religions and their civil liberties and since Islamist facist find western belief to be inferior because they are rules of man, and not the rules of God(Allah)" I just remember how thoughfull and lucid she was explaining the truth to the matter. I suggest anyone to read her books..

Well if the cartoons were drawn by a jewish cartoonist then they might have some distant point. Don't know whether this is true though.

I would have to agree with this,we all know there are plenty of good willed muslims out there but where are they, and why arent they takeing a stand against this desicration of there religion because we all know the real disgrace and shame of islam are the clerics that insight violence for whatever sick extremist view they have.I heard not to long ago that the war of cultures and civilizations we are just coming to realize is really a war within islam itself. There are those who seek to pervet it by saying true islam is beaheadings, blowing people up,or simply tortureing in the name of Islam, and then there are those on the other side that-well where is the other side.

We have to realize that there is a struggle within the muslim community that is being won by the extremists, and people in the muslim community have to realize that they have to win this struggle, islam like most great istitutions is being destroyed from within not from some great outside evil. This is your chance your chance to be a martyr for your cause not by strapping a bomb to yourself or by inciteing or inflicting violence but by shameing those who do .Point those people out and discredit them take away there dignity and expose them for what they really are traitors to your religion. If islam is not saved from within it cannot be saved.
