I was away for a little while so I figured I will come back “in” with a bang so to speak :D
Here is a huge collection of various Armour from various different countries that were in use in the IDF. It is all situated at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Armored Corps Museum, which is located at Latrun, Israel, in the Ayalon Valley, between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. (this is the site where there were fierce battles during the war of independence in 1948)
The museum exhibition grounds have about 200 armored battle vehicles on display, ranging from World War 2 French Hotchkiss tanks to the latest model of the Israeli Merkava tank. Numerous American, British and Soviet armor are on display as well.
The museum's central building was formerly a British police station in mandate times. The building currently contains an audio-visual hall, model displays and various exhibits.
The museum grounds also include a 10,000 seat outdoor amphitheater. It is used for the Armored Corps major conventions and assemblies. The museum also hosts introductory courses in armored warfare for new recruits.
The Armored Corps Museum's official web site is located Here (http://www.arcm-latrun.org.il/english/index_e.htm)
On a personal note, as some know, I was not in the Tank corp. and while I perhaps had some fun at the tankers in my time in the IDF (usual military rivalry between different services), I nonetheless have nothing but respect for the sacrifices that the tank corp. has given to Israel and me visiting this tank museum, was truly an amazing experience for me for this is truly a world class military museum. I highly recommend all you military aficionados that exist here on this site to visit this museum on their future trip to Israel ;) :D It is not something to miss.
Lastly, its sad but unfortunately I need to remind people that this is a military forum, where former BTDT’s or military enthusiasts come to share pictures or stories or just chit chat on anything military and if some of these pics conflict with anyone’s personal views on the conflict in general, well take it to some political forum or at least in the general section, here in this section of what is a PHOTOS section in what is a MILITARY forum, I ask all to keep it strictly on that theme and on what I brought down.
P.S. besides all the info that are under each picture, if others here have questions feel free to ask and either I or Javehn (or others) will try our best to answer them. Considering that Javehn was a tanker in the IDF tank corp. himself, I am sure he will have a slight edge in expertise on this to answer questions here ;)
A general view of the museum.
