Fearing violence, Denmark may cancel Israel match

Reactions to the Danish publication of cartoons of Muhammad have reached the world of soccer.

Denmark's team may cancel its friendly match against Israel, which was supposed to be held at the beginning of March, for fear of violent reprisals from the Muslim sector, Army Radio reported.

The Danish Football League is expected to reach a final decision on the matter at the end of February.

The Danes have been worried for years. This worry about cancelling an Israeli visit could have happened without this cartoon hysteria as well. The Danes are in the "war on terror" and lives with the paranoia that follows with that. It happens quite often that left suitcases creates panic in Copenhagen. Wasn't that long ago the central train station there was evacuated... happens now and then.

You don't need explain to us the "war on terror" or the fear of living in the shadow of terrorism... :-) the Europeans will have to learn, as we did long ago, that we must not allow terrorists to abstruct our daily life.

Not to be rude Sir, but this is a bit naive.

Denmark have found bombs. This is not been posted in news paper due to the fact that it is Danish security policy that the public do not need to know everything. For this policy I thank you Israel.

I never claimed Europe has never faced terrorist... however in the past 40 years it has been individual countries in Europe that faced terror, not Europe as a whole.

Also only in the last 5 years or so that Europeans have faced Islamic extremist's terrorism... which is very different from any form of terrorism Europe has encounterd in the past.

You can argue all you want but I doubt there is a European state that has the same steadfastness that Israel citizens have developed over the years.... like the ability to suffer a suicied bombing in a marketplace and just several hours aftewards have people come back to shop there and get on with their lives.
However I trully hope no Europeans will have to develop such a steadfastness.
