Where do I start.

Yes their help line is located in India. I don't want to be a prick but most of what they say I don't understand. English mother f*cker! Do you speak it!? Mum got home almost three weeks now and one of her begs is still missing. Unfortunately all the valuable things were on it. So I called today again and the phone operator advised me to wait more!! . They told mum it would take no more then 48hours to locate it, when she filed the report at the airport. I mentioned to who ever I spoke this and told them you know what there is point of waiting anymore. It has been three weeks. I have no doubt everything in the bag is ruined. The last time we will ever fly with Air Canada. Assholes!! Over 1500 dollars of gifts lost.

Well she was coming from Albania. Air Canada doesn't fly out of there and I'm sure the company that does isn't exactly the brightest company either.

Did you try ringing the airport in austria direct and ask to be put through to the air canada desk..normally works for me.
Lost mine in tokyo one time with air france (in my experience air france is by far the worse for lost luggage..refuse to fly them now for that and other reasons), they were able to tell me at my local airport what was in my bag in tokyo but when i rang the line in paris for the luggage department "Patrik" knew nothing about my bag..eventually called the air france desk in narita, and a nice japanese girl hunted down my bag and had it back in two days.
So give them a call in Austria, cut out the middle (indian) man.

Hmm that actually doesnt sound like a bad idea at all. The indian man told us that he notified the austrian and toronto airport as well. I dont know.

Bollox, i wouldnt believe a word of it..ring them direct, cut out all the middle men and find out what the story is, might be dificult to get through to the air canada desk though and take a couple of calls, but am sure if you persevere and "if" the bag is still there you can get it, have all your tag numbers and complaint numbers handy when you call.

Edit: and take the names of the people your talking to, just reminds them that they are accountable in the end.

I would never leave the airport without my luggage...let alone wait two weeks. Sometimes it's not the airliners fault...the baggagehandlers can be thieving gits. I had a locked suitcase cut open with a blade by one. Nothing of value in it...just my underwear and stuff and my pet iguana.

What airport was that?

That's why I prefer smaller airports, they have better control over the personel there. At those busy big hubs (like Copenhagen's Kastrup) everyone is stressed out, they personel doesn't know each other so I assume it's easy for some rotten apples to do things like that and getting away with it.

When I flew Air Canada from TO to Vienna, my bags made a unplanned detour from my stopover in Heathrow to Hawai, and then back to London and then to Vienna.
And that happened only once, in my flying years between 1989 till 2005.Austrian airlines using Air Canada airplanes, provide me with a direct linkup to TO in under 9 hours flight for 890 euros.

It could have been worse. I hope your mother had an enjoyable time in Austria. And wasnt misidentified as an american too often.

Good guess. If I remember correctly it was either Heathrow or Gatwick.
