First and foremost do the following:

-Talk to your local Army recruiter http://goarmy.com/contact/recrloca.htm
-Chat http://goarmy.com/chat/
-Email http://goarmy.com/contact/emailus.htm

I "chatted" with some online recruiter they said they can get infantry/airborne on your contract, even the location-- But not the specific unit-- Still you should talk to your local recruiter and insist on 82nd or something-- Either way if you have your jump wings you'll still be assigned to some Airborne unit which does Combat Airborne Ops:

After the demise of the best Airborne plan, a most terrifying effect occurs on the battlefield. This effect is known as the rule of the LGOPs. This is, in its purest form, small groups of pissed-off 19-year-old American Paratroopers. They are well-trained, armed-to-the-teeth and lack serious adult supervision. They collectively remember the Commander's intent as "March to the sound of the guns and kill anyone who is not dressed like you..."

...or something like that. Happily they go about the day's work........

just a general note...take everything a recruiter says with a BIG grain of salt. but if you wanna be in the airborne, heres's some tips from someone whos' going to airborne school this summer. 1: RUN. get yourself in shape for the runs there (3-4 miles, 7-8 min per mile pace, in the SUN) 2: when you go to basic, at some point airborne recruiters may come around, ask! bug your drill too, see what kinda info you can dig up. 3: theyre infantry divisions, so guess what? bring a bullet sponge is your best shot at the school. afterall, tankers dont need to learn to jump outa airplanes

When you enlist, get airborne school in your contract and make sure you are in a MOS the 82nd uses. Then at AIT just put Ft Bragg as your #1 choice for duty station. There is a good chance you will get it. I know when I was at AIT if you volunteered for airborne school, it pretty much guarunteed you were going to the 82nd.
