I recently aquired this movie, not expecting much ( infact I heard it was okay at best ) and was really suprised. A PG-13 war movie sounds like a joke, but this film proves it can be done. For what it lacks in pitched battles and maybe even a tired plot in which they come across a downed airman who has to get very important intel to HQ and they are hoplessly stranded behind enemy lines after narrowly escaping the malmedy massacre. It turns out to be a awsome movie, the characters more then make up for the rest and the movie is not burdened by being too long or trying to be a "War Epic". Truely in its own right its is its own kind of film, and I defenitly appreciated it. I am not a overly religeous person and there defenitly is that influence of faith, stressing forgiveness and god ( the main character deacon never leaves his bible but or reasons explaind in the film ).

I also believe that the movie shows that even in the worst situations the better side of people can prevail, despite them having to do somethin or be a part of something that is horrible.

This movie was not easy to come by, it didnt make it to theaters here last year and even the DVD on Amazon.com is a import. If you do however get a chance to watch this little Gem as long as you have a open mind you will enjoy it.

I put in a special order at HMV for it, ive been trying to find that thing for ever.. every time I find a store that has it, its sold out and they dont know when they get the next copy. So yeah.. I'm glad to hear its gonna be worth it.. I thought it'd be a lot cos of its import status, but all I needed to do was give a $15 deposit, and the thing costs 30 when it comes in

On a related note, i just bought a movie called "A Midnight Clear" about the lost american intel platoon in the ardennes.. stars ethan hawke, kevin dillon and gary sinise, and got two thumbs up so I figured it'll probably be cool. I havent watched it yet though

S&S is a really good movie for the low budget they had. You’ll probably just watch the movie at length once or twice. But like many war films, the beginning and end are pretty good. I know the military advisor to this movie in passing, and he promised me that the Jeep that was blown up was a junker way beyond any hope of restoration (it was swapped for the good one they put in that position in a previous scene). Look in the background when the Germans are pulling out of Malmedy. You’ll see a Tiger II in the background. It’s simple yet highly effective special effects. Many people never notice it’s there.

I've watched it a few months back, and its really a good movie. The picture is top quality, music and battle sequences are high tense.
