How many modern planes has Russian Air Force, by modern I mean modernized Su-27/MiG-29/Su-24/MiG-31 (but not the ex-Soviet basic variants) and new planes like Su-34.

SU 37 and SU 47 are just Prototypes, this is about Planes actually in service.

no MiG-27's in service any more. And more MiG-29's, in the order of 350, I think.

If there are no mig 27s left then what aircraft do the russians use for the deep penetration strikes/ground attack roles?
I found some numbers:
Su-27- 449
MiG-29 - 430
MiG-31 - 310
Su-24 -500
Tu-22M - 162
Tu-95 -70
Tu-160 -15
Su-34 - 10
Su-35 -10
Su-30 -15
Su-25 ~300
Su-39 -15

all Mig- 23 and 27's were retired before 2005. The Su-24 is the primary interdiction aircraft. Some of these will be replaced with the Su-34, a batch of which is under production right now.
There are still several hundred Mig23/27 in storage.

No, its just one single Prototype (Modified SU 35) that is sent from Flightshow to Flightshow. They dont have the Money and with modern Missiles the advantage is simply to small, it will never see serial production.

yeah, existing Su-27's will be upgraded for a fraction of the price of purchasing new Su-37;s.

No, the existing SU 27 Airframes are to old and will be out of service sooner or later. If russia will have a thrustvectoring Fighter it will be the next generation Plane.

The SU 30 MK has thrust vector engines and it is operated by the RuAF

That is an Export model and NOT in Service.

I meant avionics, weapon compatibilty, cockpit , radar upgrades, which is all the Su's really need, they otherwise kick @$$

I disagree. The SU 30 MK is in service in the RuAF.

The export variants you are mentioning are MKI(India) MKK(China) and MKM(Malaysia)

Never heard of the MKM before. What about the Su-30's being exported to Indonesia? What designation will they recieve?

I guess I stand corrected:)

hmm...I dont know..I am not sure if sukhoi have given any designation for the indonesian variant. The last time before the deal was cancelled it was su 30 KI. I heard that this time they are going for a combination of (su 27P) su 30 and (su27M ) su 35. so i guess it will probably be su 30 KI or su 35 KI unless ofcourse they change their minds and go for a multirole a/c instead of an air superiority fighter which would change its designation to su 30 MKI or su 35 MKI...the former being the namesake of its Indian counterpart :)

Ha, Indonesia MKI's, that screws up the designation system, which has worked well so far. It's good to see some Russian hardware in Indonesia; they are also planning to buy several Kilo's in the upcoming years. And haven't 2 Su-27's and 2 Su-30's been delvered ?
The Su-27s will continue to serve till the next gen fighter is read about the middle of next decade (2015 or so). They will be upgraded to a new upgrade standard called Su-35 but actually different from what we in the west know as the Su-35 (which first flew in 1988 and was called Su-27M). It will incorporate all the new technology and improvements the Russians have been adding to Indian and Chinese Su-30 exports, though unlike the Indian aircraft that has Israeli and French equipment installed the Su-35 will be all Russian.
The Russians withdrew all single engine fighters in the early 90s including Mig-21s, Mig-23s, Mig-27s, Su-17s, and older aircraft like Mig-15s etc etc.
The short to medium range strike role will be performed by the Su-24 and the new Su-34, while the longer range strike will be performed by the Tu-22M3.
With multirole improvements to Mig-29s and Su-27s there is less need for aircraft like the Mig-27s. Before only the Mig-27 could carry LGBs, while the standard fighters like the Mig-23 and then the Mig-29 had only limited air to ground capability. As that is changing they no longer need dedicated strike aircraft.

yes you are right. Sukhoi delievered two Su-27SK and two Su-30MK aircraft to Indonesia in September 2003.And if i am not mistaken Indonesia is probably going to acquire eight more.

So let's conclude.
Su-27 - about 400, most of them made in 80s, how much is operational?
Su-30 - 30 (aka Su-27SK2 - modernized Su-27 airframes)
Su-35 - 10 (aka Su-27M - modernized Su-27 airframes)
Su-34 - 10 (hevy attack plane, based on Su-27, new airframes)
Su-25 - about 300, most of them made in 80s, how much is operational?
Su-39 - 15 (aka Su-25M - modernized Su-25 airframes)
Su-24 - about 500, most of them made in 80s, how much is operational?
There are planes to modernize some of them, and to replace rest by Su-34.
MiG-29 - about 400, most of them made in 80s, how much is operational?
There were plans to modernize them but modernization of Su-27 is more important
MiG-31 - about 300, most of them made in 80s, how much is operational?
MiG-31M - 10 (modernized MiG-31 airframes)
MiG-31BM - 5 (modernized MiG-31 airframes)
Strategic bombers are not by Air Force command.
There aie also plans of new PAK FA - two engine, stelth, multirole fighter - in size of MiG-29 - something between JSF nad Raptor.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
