The French TV has announced this morning the first French troops (150 to 200) coming from Fort de France in nearby Martinique (a French island in the West-Indies) have been airlanded in Haïti.

It is very likely they belong to the 33° RIMa, a French Marine unit that is permanently based in Martinique; they'll probably be reinforced by units on rotation from France that are on that Island for four months. If necessary, they could be reinforced by another 4 companies located in french Guyana.

France also has 2XC16O Transalls, 2XPumas and 2XFennecs helos in Martinique as well as several navy ships.

Also, as shown on anothe topic, about 20 gendarmes from the EPIGN have been already present in Haïti since Saturday.

It's also been announced that former president Aristide has landed in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.

As it happens, there is also a company of French soldiers in Bangui...

After checking the pictures posted by He 219 (should I add Uhu ?!!) I can confirm those troops belong to the 33°RIMa (Régiment d'Infanterie de Marine).

In the meantime the 2° CIE of the 3° REI is on the way to Haiti. The legionnaires left French-Guyana today at 8 A.M. Guyana-time.

God bless them!
