I've gotten myself involved in a writing project on another site and somehow i ended up including a Polish army unit in this. since i actually know nothing about the Polish army i'm now interested in being at least somewhat factual.
i'd prefer this thread be without a bunch of Polish jokes too btw....p-)
How would say , a modern Polish infantry company be arranged? like overall organization, number of platoons, average number of personnel, the rank of commanding officer, (Captain? with 1st Lieutenant as Executive Officer or something? like in the US?) are Polish tactics still based on the Soviet era ones, or are they now more "western" in training or tactics? or is it a mix?
any other essential or unique aspects to the Polish army and tactics?
how are the Poles in Iraq liking their WZ.96 "Beryls" (being an AK fan i'm fascinated by those rifles for some reason) are they performing up to expectation? I think i read on this board somewhere that the Poles are not fond of the 5.56mm vs. the 7.62x39 (not sure i blame them) but is the weapon itself proving satisfactory?
is there a specific site on the net that might be helpful to me in learning more about the modern Polish army? (in English)
i've been to the Polish ministry of defense sight and the uniform sections and stuff were interesting but it didn't have quite the kind of info i was looking for.
so any help would be appreciated.
