I dont know a whole hell of alot about the RM's, but paratroopers in general have it harder I would say. I think history would support that argument. Just the nature of the job really.

Royal Marines an Para's are both tough/hardcore an motivated groups.

Gonna be a lot of Bias in here, all Para's will say they are tougher an RM Commando's will say they are tougher.

An lot's of comments like this
"God was a para................

he failed the commando course"

I dont think you can say one is more then the other using history since the kind of people back then are not in it now. If your asking who is harder now.

the rmc have been round longer than the paras but the time the paras have been round they have proven to be equal to the marines but the paras are still better

It would be hard to distinguish who would come out on top when it came to doing business. Two different mantalities. I would say Royals are "Lets do the job right" (serious face) where paras are more "Lets get it done" (get'r done & have some fun face) The only way to solve it would be to take the hardest para guy and the hardest royal and put them in the pit to squash it out. Good luck Royal.

As far as I know you have been having a bit of trouble explaining where exactly your supposed battalion is residing these days, mate. You sure you want to start a bunch of sh*te here? :) And I think anyone other than "para" or "Royal" should probably refrain from running their mouths tooooooooooo much. The gentlemen previously mentioned probably have more class and are too old to get involved in a retarded **** measuring contest like our noob friend here.

Para's are best at mass air-assaults.
Marines are best at amphibious landings.

They're both s*** at playing with heavy armour.

Since we are all up.. maybe a little review of the forum rules would be in order.

We don't look kindly on people who lead us to believe they are something or someone they are not. Us Yanks use words like "poser" while the Squaddies like to use "Walt" to describe those whose credibility is in question. Regardless, we Mods enjoy sniffing those "walts" out. The stench in this thread is pretty suspect. If the shoe stinks.. consider this a warning.

there policy of up and at em-did not impress any one including the director of sf (who is a marine) who when it finished made all the ncos and officers walk behind b coys attack.

yes i know but what with me being VERY sad i find it funny in the pursuit of fairness if i can find one about the RM's then i'll post it hope no offence was caused

The point I made was that it took a sad little fool like Lewis-flying-donkey-fart to start a thread like this in the first place. This sort of thread or things like "who would win in a Canada Vs. Uzbekistan war" are so damned stupid and have no place on this forum and will be closed/deleted if I find them.

Both The Royal Marines and The Parachute Regiment are amongst the finest troops in the world today, and arguing their relative merits is hardly fair or constructive, especially as they are hardly likely to be on opposing sides except on a Saturday night should they just happen to end up off duty in the same neck of the woods. If this were the case, chances are the odds will be pretty well evens depending on numbers and it could go either way. ;-)

I gather before anyone could put their name down for it and give it a go, but now they have it open only to those units who directly support the RM's, like army commando pet-ops and the likes?

1 woman has passed the commando course 1 woman has attempted p-coy (pre para selection) and lasted 4 days of the 3 week build up she never even got to p-coy (stress fractures in her shins)

OK, your either have nothing to say or whatever, but a response like "No" WTF is that meant to mean.

You asked him to give SASBritain a break. He answered "No".

Seems self explanatory to me.

No. As in, No I'm not going to give the guy a break.

I'll use crayons or the keyboard equivalent to explain it next time.

Judging by a few of this chav assclowns posts tonight I'm going to suggest to Royal that if this guy makes it anywhere near a commando course they have a live fire accident.

Or have him do his death runs without breathing because the weight of his school bag compresses his chest too much so he has to stop every five minutes for a single second to take a breath of air.

That would be naughty ;) (but very tempting).

Just re-read the SAS Britain thread - absolute class! We need more like him...

about women in the royals, the band got to do the commando course?rember watching royal ed tattoo and there was a few girls in the band(1 did a solo singing act)...i had to do my phase 1 & 2 in the same places as the paras and what a nightmare that was.when a para platoon passed us we all had to turn around cause we were not worthy of looking at them and all that bollox.
to me as a ex hat it seems the royals got more brains and much better in the type of deployment roles they can undertake...but like some1 said we all on the same side at the end of the day.

No the band service are the only part of the Corps that doesn't do the course (although they can and a few do) - same as the Para reg band don't do P Coy (last time I saw them they only had one guy with his wings up).

thats abit of a sore point for people in para reg aswell.as for the bollocks we do at depot (brainwashing) at the end of the day it gets the job done and instills an esprit de corps that only the marines can match.

@ Pindeho.
To answer your question about what unit i am in.I am currently serving with the Austrian Jagdkommando and i was working with 2 Para and and 45 Marine Commando in Cyprus ,whilst being attached to MP-Security platoon at Unficyp, within the UNPA and later being attached to UNPA-HQ-QRF in Nicosia, which was and still is a muli-international element within the UN,commandeered by a Brit.
I hope, that satisfies your curiosity.

RM's and Para's are both tough mothers and a lot of RM's are para qualified. They are skilled in the roles that they do and having worked with elements from both would say they are equally tough.

End this thread, its a pointless arguement.

P COY is just a selection phase, wright? Commando course is something quite different thing, so wow can you say that the RMC are harder than the Paras?
