My visit to SEAL Teams TEN and TWO, and Force Recon School

Pretty fun trip. A friend and I visited Norfolk Naval Base this weekend and while touring the base we came across the buildings for the SEAL Teams! Needless to say we had to stop and take pictures. Unfortunately the building to Team TEN was completely enclosed by an iron fence; you could see the trident sign on the building, but we weren't sure it would show up if we snapped pictures (due to the iron bars). Luckily around the side was the main pedestrian entrance, where there was a clearly engraved plaque letting you know where you were.

The fence to Team TWO, on the other hand, was open, so we drove through and parked in the parking lot directly in front of the building. We were going to go inside and say Hi, but the door was locked. A few seconds after we walked away from the locked door, a dude that looked like Jesse Ventura came out. I thought, "Oh ****, he's gonna kick our asses!" --but he was merely carrying what looked to be a picnic table and walked to a minivan to load it in the back. My buddy asked him if the building was the "quarterdeck" (reception area) for the SEAL Team, and the dude said, "Yeah, but there's nobody in there right now." (It was a Sunday morning when we visited.) My buddy then asked if it was okay for us to take pictures in front of their building and the guy was like, "Yeah, sure!" then got in his minivan and drove off. I guess his wife and kid(s) were in the van waiting on him, so he was more concerned about his own weekend fun than two mutants with a camera.

Finally, we toured Fort Story in Virginia Beach and came upon what seemed to be the Marine Force Recon school; I'm not sure if this is THE Force Recon school or if it's just a branch or a part of the school, but the sign was pretty convincing. The only reason I have doubts about it is that Fort Story is a sucky-ass post with hardly anything of interest on it (the place looks half-abandoned) so I'd be surprised if this is the main HQ of the school.

Anyway, that's it. By the way, my buddy was a submariner for 10 years in the Navy, so we visited a couple of subs during our trip, too. I'd post pics of that as well, but I think the pics of the controls and insides of the subs that we took might be classified. Here's a picture of the toilet, though:

Sorry but SF guys don't hang out at bars on Yadkin Rd. They used to eat lunch at the Bangkok before that went under. SF guys sometimes grab lunch at the GB club, but usually they go on Friday night. Odds are during the day you'll see more people at the GB club from 4th POG or CA.

The SEALs buildings are over on Little Creek Amphib base, not Norfolk Naval Station. And no the fences are not electrofied, but there other security devices to prevent you from just strolling into the various compounds.

The "Force Recon" School" is the Amphibious Recon School (ARS). It trains Force Recon, Battalion Recon, and Radio Recon Marines, (there's also the the Basic Recon Course -BRC) located out on Coronado Amphibious Base, in California. Marines have to graduate one of the two course to be awarded the "Recon Marine" MOS.

molsen is right. this what my dad told me they did, please correct me if i got this wrong, i think its the same as what molsen said.

1st. 8 weeks at coronado, or little creek for the basic reconnaissance course.

2nd. is benning for jump school
3rd. is panama city for dive school

after that is phase two and 3 training, the above is just phase 1. takes like 18 months of training im told.
