A little off-topic, but one of the least known facts of WWII was the presence of, wait for it, Chinese soldiers in Germany's side in the European theater. According to the highly respected writer and WWII historian Raymond Cartier, there was a Chinese contingent in France, among many other nationalities.

As I said: off-topic.

No it's citizenship. They can apply for citizenship after five years, or if they're wounded in action.

A lot of chineses who enlist in the FFL eventually volunteer to become FFL cooks...just as romanians try to become clerks and englishmen always want to go to the 2°REP.....one of the FFL's facts of life

When you are based in Régina, in the jungle, for two years, it can get to your head you know...but in fact, the instructors have it really good up there, they have a good location overlooking the river and they live their own life away from the 3°REI in Kourou in peace and happyness...
A WO has done three two-year tours in Régina, it can't be that bad...he also is a graduate of the CIGS brazilian jungle school so he knows his stuff...

There are very few brits in the Légion nowadays...the times of 1/4 of the 2°REP made up of english speakers like in the mid 80s are long gone.

Now it's eastern europe which leads the pack of volunteers.

The rule for citizenship changed I believe !
since 2000 you will have to take French language exam to get your citizenship. You have to get Level 4

I don't like Chinese food.

Fant, if someone joins the Legion, spends five years there, and then applies for and is granted French citizenship, can he then move on to the regular Army, and say, become an officer?
