AWESOME PICTURES!!! its great that we are moving from yahoo photos to the nice ones from corbis and *****..... JUST A SUGGESTION... but maybe militaryphotos.net could look into getting a ***** images subscription for a few pictures a day to chose from......... I am visualizing a main page that has a few military news stories, as well as the top 3 or 4 photos of the day, chosen by the admins..... we have a huge community here we could expand on :D

I won't speak for He219, but I imagine it's because
1) Those soldiers are pretty obviously sayeret nahal.
2) Because of that, they come up on the *****images site under a text search for "elite."

One minor correction for the image with the caption "A member of the South African special forces and a South African policeman chat, 10 August 2003 in Monrovia."

The picture showing French and Swedish soldiers in Congo does not show SF units; the French are a line Marine unit (3°RIMa) and the Swedes (Mustamato correct me if I am wrong) are equipped with the normal AK5 while the SSG Swedish SF uses the G36.

Plus I have already seen that beige beret on a normal Swedish unit.

Well yes, I think they are simply guards, (for the rest of the swedes at the airport).
The beret is the one used by all swedish soldiers abroad, no matter which unit
they belong to.

http://www.soldf.com/images/s_basker_int.jpg

Since the swedish issued beret is like a big mushroom on the head, most soldiers
(as the one on the picture) buy french berets instead, that have less fabric
and are smaller. The issued swedish beret is like the british one in size.

I don't think that is an M-16. It looks like a rubber ducky - a metal frame with a cast rubber body - used for training, road marches, etc. when you just need the weight and shape, but don't want to go to the trouble of drawing weapons, accounting for them and cleaning them.

The operation in Congo with the French SF's was a co-op between Swedens two SF units, the SSG and the Para Rangers Reaction Force (don't know the exact translation) and this is probably them.

Thats the Russians, its basically a demostration that they put on for the crowds(they go threw a considerable amount of "pain training"). Pretty intense though, I personally couldnt run..do a back flip...and toss a hatchet at the same time...that takes skill (and alot of practice).

Well actually they have the ak5 short, and yes they are probably not SSG. The beret is used by swedes in international service.

Here are some official ssg pics from congo (from försvarets forum)
The two weapons on the last pic seems to be minimi para and g36(c), as fantassin has said before was used by the ssg in congo.

I love it- pics of buffed out studs on a 'roid rage throwing axes, jumping thru hoops of fire and eating concrete...
...and then the guys who are actually deployed in the **** look like my car mechanic.

I guess it isn't the size of the dog in the fight.

Also- Any Russian/Korean/etc. gym rats who take my remarks personally should reach down and unbunch their panties.
