Hi,

I'd really like to put together a regular contemporary infantry uniform and I'm looking for suggestions. American and British seem easily availble online but I'd like to do somewere a bit different just to have some more unusual markings etc. Of course, I still need to do something that I can collect the bits for relatively easily online...

Can anyone help or make any suggestions?

Thanks in adavance

Maybe a German, Belgian or Dutch loadout?

Maybe a Ruskie [Russian for you n00bs] loadout. I've always wanted to do one, but I don't want to spend $700 bucks on a Guarder AKS-74 kit.

Would one of those be fairly easy to put together and get info on? It's my first so i need all the deatils about patches etc.

German and Russian would be the easiest of them.

Get German stuff here:
www.flecktarn.co.uk (http://www.flecktarn.co.uk)

Get Russian stuff here:

Try PMing Feindbild (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/member.php?u=13118)

this is a pic he posted of his loadout:

I'm pretty sure the word is actually 'Russky', newb. rofl

There are actually alot of German and Russian loadouts, go with something crazy like a PLA or the New Iraq Army loadout :P

I don't think a Belgian loadout would be very simple.
It's easy to buy a Belgian BDU & Combat boots,
but to find a Belgian Flak vest or Seyntex webbing you'll have to look a lot harder. You can always buy an Arktis webbing in ABL jigsaw pattern but i don't think that those are actually used in large numbers.

The the new 'A' eskadron light infantry of the 2/4th lancers seems to be quite fond with the arktis chest webbing tho:

But like Lone said the most used vest for the Belgian infantry/paracommando/recce remains the standard issue seyntex webbing or for other units the armor vest with pouches attached.

The Belgian camo is certainly unusual looking! The German looks pretty cool though and it is easy to obtain I guess. I think it might suit me.

I also considered Israeli but that might be more difficult.

Israeli Army stuff is not so difficult to obtain. The most difficult item to get is the helmet. It requires patience and many hours on ebay.

You can get uniforms in www.zahal.org For the tactical vest you can check in www.armytacshop.com or its counterpart in ebay (armygearshop).

Go ahead join IDF :)

You are fully right, some IDF units use PASGT helmets, but normally these are reserve units.

The standard issue IDF ballistic helmet is made by Orlite and Rabintex and they are unfortunately hard to get. I got my Orlite through e-bay. My helmet is a Chilean army issue one but it is exactly the same used by the IDF.

For the IDF uniform you need as a minimum IDF BDU pants and shirt and a tactical vest or harness. IDF vests are really an incredible piece of gear. They are very, very comfortable and have such a number of pouches that you will never need anything else to carry your spare equipment, magazines, batteries BB's and the like. The A10 combat harness is now used in reserve units or for training.

Until you are able to find a proper helmet you can manage with a PASGT replica and a Mit'znefet (Mushroom) cover. Another element you would need is a typical Israeli rifle sling. They are very characteristic and easy to get.

You can get this stuff easily in the web sites that are mentioned in the other posts and of course at e-bay (just put IDF, Israeli Army, Israel Army or Zahal in the search tab)

For the boots, I use trekking boots as I do not feel like breaking in military boots ;) Trekking boots are used by IDF units so there is no problem of realism in that. If you really want to have standard issue IDF boots they are also available at zahal.org. The brown ones are used by the paratroops only.

Weapons: Here I am talking about airsoft replicas you can easily find. You should stick to the M16 series (M4A1, M16A2, M733, M653). UZI's are no longer used, only some Mini-UZI or micro-UZI but only in very specific applications.
Handguns are not very common in the IDF but some counterterrorist units use either Glocks (17/19) or Sig Sauers (P226/P229). Other possibilities are the Jericho and the Browning HP.

If you are in the sniper rol you can use the M24. If you are very rich and can afford it; the Barret Light Fifty is also used by the Israel army.

Unfortunately there is no replica of the Negev LMG so the only option if you are in the support role is using a Minimi Para which is of very limited use in special units like Sayeret Matkal.

Thanks a lot for that reply.

Do you know many people who do IDF? Do you do it as a team or anything?

In the area I live we have formed a team of four IDF players. I think there are several individual players here and there in Spain. I know of other teams in Sweden and Czech Republic.
